Hello, my name is Angela. I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and looking to do Lap Band. I think I have found a doctor for my procedure, my only question is, do I go through TLC Edge or his private practice? Has one used Dr. Jay, through TLC Edge? Has anyone used TLC Edge? What was your experience like? If I go through TLC Edge, the price is $9990, if I go through his practice it's $10,200. The TLC offers all testing with their price and one fill. The practice doesn't include testing but it offer 1 year of fills. Which do you think is the best deal and what do you think of the TLC Edge? Also, fills for TLC Edge are $100, with an average of 4-5 fills a year. I have an appt with both facilities next week. Any advice you can give would be great!! Thanks.

Is it just me or is it really hard to read your body after you are banded? I'm not sure when I'm hungry, if the growling is because I'm hungry or what. Also, I have weird pains around my port every now and then and not sure what it's all about. How do I know if something is stuck?? I don't have my first fill until 11/19 so it's just the band, but how do I know when I've eaten something that I shouldn't and if it's stuck?? I have a confession, yesterday I swallowed a piece of gum. I started laughing and swallowed it on accident. How do I know if it's stuck or if it went down? I'm totally freaking out about it. Does anyone know how many calories I should have each day in order to lose weight? Sorry to bombard with all the questions, right now I'm going through a "confused" phase. I'm starting to get discouraged because I'm not really dropping much weight. What more can I do? Also, does anyone have a Protein shake suggestion?? I'm having a hard time finding a yummy Protein Shake. I haven't been getting my required protein since I'm only on full liquids. How and I suppose to get 40grams when only on liquids?? One last thing, I've heard that you can "stretch" your pouch. How do you know if you've stretched your pouch or not?

Hi, my name is Angela. I was banded on 10/15/09 by Dr. Jayaseelan in Dallas, Texas. It's been pretty rough these past couple of days. My question is, when will the gas pains subside and when will I feel normal? I seem to have a lot of swelling too, how long before that goes down? Did anyone lose weight before their first fill? I have lost 11 pounds but all of that is from my liquid diet, pre-op! My first fill is scheduled for 6 weeks post-op.

I weigh on Wednesday mornings. Right now, I'm really addicted to my scale. I'm getting to where I want to weigh everyday and I know that isn't good for me. My goal weight is 150 as well. My dietician said my "healthy" weight was actually 160-165. I guess I'll see how I feel at 160 and go from there!! As for fluids... I'm on cream Soups right now, which is full liquids I guess. I'm on it for 2 weeks and then mushies for 2 week. I wonder why some doctors only require 1 week of each?? I guess every doctor is different. What are you eating now? I need some ideas. The cream of chicken is getting boring and I am not creative when it comes to food.

Hey OkieGirl, we should definitely stay in touch! Have you lost any weight since surgery? As for the MOM and gas-x strips... nothing seems to be working!! Its stuck in my left shoulder and will ease into the center of my chest. Ugh, I just wish it would go away!! HeyRed, awesome weightloss and thanks for the info. I doubt anyone will be offended on this website! That's what its for.

I have been on synthroid for 19 years. You definitely need to take it if your thyroid is under active. It can cause other issues as well. When you first start taking synthroid it may take several months for you to find the right dose and even see a difference. Do you remember what your TSH level was? When I miss a couple days of my medication I can feel a difference. I'm really tired and lazy. I don't think your 1 pounds gain has anything to do with the synthroid. It really hasn't had time to work.

Thanks for the replies! At this point, I feel like I won't ever get better! I'm sure it gets easier. As for the baby, yes this is my daughter. She is 5 months old. My hubby has been helping with her but she still wants her mommy and no one does it as good as mommy does so I've been holding her. I try to do everything on my right side with her, since my incisions are on the left.

I was banded on Thursday the 15th. I've had the gas pains and I'm going on day 3! I'm starting to think it will never go away!! I'm looking for a ticker too! Are you feeling hungry at all? I'm still trying to figure out what all the sounds are in my belly. Gas, hunger, etc... Are you having any of this?
