Hi,I have struggled with my weight since I was in my early 20's. Done every diet know to man kind that I thought would work. Even gave in and decided this is who I am, deal with it. But after one afternoon seeing my 79yr old mother trying to put on her shoes at about 450lbs plus (we really do not know) At 5' tall and saw how very hard it was for her to catch her breath just from that small task I decided. NOT FOR ME!! My mother has been of large size my entire life but  she has never let it hold her down. She always seemed to have more energy than most. But what I saw that day was that her weight had caught up with her age and now she could hardly do for herself. I found that she wasn't able to bath properly she could not pick up anything she may have dropped on the floor, she was winded after a walk from her kitchen to her chair that had become her captive. She had large sores in between her legs that caused an odor. It was very sad.  My mother comes from a long line of obese people. Her Grandmother was so large when she passed away at that time they didn't have a casket large enough so they used a piano box to bury her in. How very sad. All of these people are mostly short in height. So, I started looking into surgery. One day I had my TV on and the program was The Doctors. It was about Lap-Band. I started to read everything I could about it. Then I called to make a appointment. And the ball started rolling from there. It took time because you have to do a lot of things before you can be considered but it was well worth it so far.
