Might be too tight
It has been a week since my second fill giving me 7.5 cc. I have had close calls every day with getting stuck or very nearly stuck even while being extremely careful and chewing to liquid. I have also lost about 10 pounds in the last week as well. It takes me about 45 minutes to eat even the smallest portion. It does seem that the restriction opens a bit after I have eaten a couple of bites. I feel that I am getting better at pacing and being careful and did not get stuck at all today whereas I have had at least a small incident of getting stuck each day since last Monday.

How much have you lost?
I did about 35 lbs from my surgery date (9/10/09) to the beginning of March. From March to April I lost 2 lbs. and from April to May I lost 1 lb. I had my first fill in January. So - doctor added .5 cc a week ago (my second fill) giving me a total of 7.5 cc. It has been extremely difficult since then. Have never experienced this kind of restriction. Have lost about 10 lbs since last Monday though so I am close to 50 lbs total. I am hoping that I can handle this restriction going forward though. Everything is much more difficult.

8 Month Update
I am almost 8 months post-op and have lost 40 lbs. While that is about an average of 5 lbs per month, I have only lost 3 lbs in the last two months. Received my second fill today putting my band up to 7.5 cc (it was 7 before today). As a result I was unable to eat any chicken for supper tonight and had to deal with being "stuck" for the last couple of hours. When I thought things were clear I tried an Unjury shake but kept backing up that too. Will try to do just liquids for the next two or three days and then try adding more solids slowly. Hopefully this fill will prove safe and successful.

September 2009 Band Date
It's been four months and I have now lost 40 lbs. Actually gained 2 pounds through Christmas. Had my first fill on January 4th 2010. I have definitely noticed the difference in the resistance since having the fill almost two weeks ago. I feel getting stuck easier and have had more of those episodes in these two weeks than in the three months prior. I am convinced though that I can avoid getting stuck by chewing more, taking it slower and avoiding breads and pastas.

men banded in september 09
I am one week post op today and feeling great. The gas pain began to subside Sunday (3 days post op) and are completely gone now. Good luck with your recovery. I checked this morning and am down 10lbs.

4 days post op questions
I am exactly 4 days post op (9/14/09) and my port pain seems to be subsiding. Still have some difficulty taking deep breaths due to the gas pain. I have had to use pillows to prop myself and find a comfortable spot trying to sleep. Fortunately, that has passed, but I have always liked using pillows to prop myself while sleeping. I don't seem to be getting hungry much. There are times where my stomach seems to be growling for hunger. Seemed like I was bloated last night (pillows helped) but was fine by 4am.

Everyone is nervous. You will probably even question your sanity after getting out of surgery particularly when you feel the pain. I did! That will go away as things start to heal.

men banded in september 09
Was banded last Thursday (9/10/09). Had some pain for the first 48 hours or so. Haven't used any more pain medication since Saturday. Have had a little breathing difficulties that I think is related to the gas they put into the abdominal cavity to make more room for surgery. Been doing a lot of walking since I got home on Friday. Haven't had any problems with the diet and am on full liquids and returning to work tomorrow.

Incision pain & stretching
Thanks! I awoke 20 minutes ago and had almost no pain getting out of bed. I think the moving I did yesterday including a long walk with my wife has helped.

Incision pain & stretching
I was banded yesterday 10/10/09 and have had consistent pain in the abdomen at the incisions and, of course, primarily at the port incision. Just returned home this afternoon and it has been difficult getting in and out of bed without stretching at least some (which is painful). Does anyone know if it is bad to stretch and what can I do to minimize this? I don't want to have to sleep in a chair.

Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?
When people learn that I am having surgery I just tell them that I am having a sex change procedure. Ha!

After almost two years of working for insurance approval and completing all the steps, I am scheduled for surgery Thursday morning (9/10/09). Very much looking forward to taking this step.
