  1. I was banded in September 2009 and became pregnant in April of 2010 with twins. I was down 63lbs (weighing 158lbs) at the start of my pregnancy. I had no band complications but was concerned with my babies getting enough nutrients since I didn't get an unfill. I did see my band surgeon upon finding out I was pregnant and his recommendation was to stay where I was and play it by ear. His point behind doing that was the fact of unhealthy eating and blood sugar levels while pregnant. With my pregnancy being twins and my history of miscarriage, I was watched very closely by my OB and Perio. Both doctor offices agreed with my band surgeon. I delivered 8 weeks early but at weeks before delivery I was having a hard time with heartburn (which ended after being banded) and everything being "squished". It would take me a long time to eat but I would do what I could to get it down. I breast fed which made a huge difference in my post baby weight loss. My boys were in NICU for 34 days and when I got home from the hospital and NICU stay I had lost all my pregnancy weight plus an additional 2 lbs. All in all, I delivered 2 healthy baby boys and I am still healthy too!
  2. Yes Kinzie, still here. I'm not active on the blog but I check out the updates I am subscribed to. Two years out I am still down 60 lbs, even after a twins pregnancy! I am so happy with my band. I couldn't imagine my life today without it.
  3. Thanks! It has been an uneventful pregnancy which is GREAT! We found out that we are having 2 boys. I have gained 11 pounds post pregnancy placing me back up to 170, which I am very fine with. Without the band I'm sure I would be up 25 or 30. I still get all the nutrients I need in a day, I just focus on getting in the foods that count. Keep plugging away at that goal weight, I know you will get there!:eek6:
  4. I went in for an unfill at 6 weeks and my surgeon said that he preferred to wait until there is an issue, either not gaining weight or an issue with vomiting. His reasoning made total sense. He said that he likes to wait it out because an un-fill can cause me to fall back into eating what I want making me unhealthy, bringing back my high blood pressure and pre-diabetic issues. It is really healthier for the babies (as long as they are growing and gaining weight) if I remain healthy. They are growing as they should be (I am now 14 wks 4 days) so they are not worried what so ever. My weight fluctuates, but I've gained about 6 pounds since pregnancy. I don't think that's too bad with twins. They say I should gain between 35-45 pounds throughout the whole pregnancy. It is so scary to think of putting that many pounds back on but a great relief knowing I have my band to help me take it back off after I give birth. I hope everyone makes their 1 year goals, I believe you all can do it!
  5. Sounds like everyone is still plugging away at it, although I know it's not easy. I hit a plateau a few months back, I was alright with it since my husband and I were trying to conceive. Well I probably won't be on here for a while because I am finally pregnant. We've tried for 6 years and the surgery was a plus for helping with pregnancy. I am pregnant with twins so I probably won't be on here until January after they are delivered. I will surely need some motivation after a pregnancy weight gain. I have noticed that I am very conscious of what I eat, so hopefully I don't go overboard on my eating. Thanks for everyone's support through the first 9 months of "band life"!!
  6. Does anyone know what makes the band tighter during pregnancy? I am 5 weeks pregnant and during the past week my band has felt tight at different times of the day. It's not that I can't get food down, it just physically feels extremely tight, giving me a backache and such. I've been trying to pin point why I would be feeling like this and I was thinking it might be because I am hungry?? I'm not sure. Thanks!
  7. I'm in also! I had a rough weekend. I felt like I was starving! It's been so good this fill right up to this past Friday. I am relieved that I have a fill this afternoon, it should help. It's kinda crazy to think that by the end of this challenge I hope to weigh 145. I haven't weighed that since high school. I hope everyone has a great week! :frown:
  8. Onederland is the the 100's! Way to go Amanda!
  9. Sounds like everyone is starting to get back on track since the holidays are now behind us for a while. Great Job! I was holding at the same weight for a while. I can give a ton of excuses why, but no more for me! I am really focusing on my workout and it is paying off. I have lost 4 lbs this week! I posted some photos of New Years Eve. Seeing those photos really put my weight loss into perspective. It's just amazing what this band has done for me! Here's to a successful week!

  11. I had my second fill today also! I feel pretty good. This fill puts me to 6cc's in a 10cc band. I hope the weight comes off a little easier after this fill. I felt like I was starving and the scale wasn't moving much with the last fill. Very disappointing! Oh well, new month - new goal!
  12. Great Job! Keep the motivation going!
  13. I'm in...the Thanksgiving goal didn't go as well as I wished, but might as well set a new goal to work towards. I can't wait till my fill on Monday, it should help. I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!
  14. I went for my first fill yesterday and the doctor was amazed with my results. I was shocked! I guess I've lost quite a bit of weight but it has seemed to be a slow process more recently. I was down 30 pound yesterday; that's since my pre-op diet started on August 30. The fill didn't hurt what so ever, just a little pin prick. After my fill he had me drink a dixie cup of Water. I took my first sip and my stomach made a high pitched squeak sound while I felt an air bubble come up. When the doctor heard that, he told me I was drinking too fast but also I am probably close to my "sweet spot" which really excites me! I didn't know it but he put 3cc's in my band at surgery and 2cc's yesterday so I have a total of 5cc's in a 10cc band. He said most patients need about 7cc's to be at their "sweet spot". Next appointment is in 5 weeks. (they couldn't get me in for 4 weeks) Anyway, motivation is fully here and I am ready to help motivate anyone else needing it!
  15. I haven't had my first fill yet, so I have no restiction. I am determined to continue to lose weight. I have set a goal to lose another 10.3 pounds before Halloween (we are going on vacation). Which is HUGE without restriction. So, I decided to starting back on liquids. I am doing a protein shake for breakfast, protein shake for lunch, and a small dinner. Only water in between, nothing else. We'll see how it goes.
  16. My blog is up and running. I still need to get a newer update on there, but the web address is Jody's Banded Journey. Comments are encouraged. Hope to see you on there!
  17. I finally have mine up and running. The web address is Jody's Banded Journey , stop by and check it out.
  18. That is fabulous! Congrats! You have a lot to be excited about! My weight loss seems to be slowing, I need to kick the exercise up some to make the difference. Have a great day!
  19. I just added myself to the list. It's so nice to share your goals with others, it tends to keep you focused and motivated. I have given myself a huge goal and I am going to need to work really hard to meet it. I want to be down to 175 by Thanksgiving. That is losing an average of 3.25 pounds per week. My first fill isn't until October 26 so these next few weeks will be challenging. I believe if I focus, I can do it!! :wink2:
  20. I had my two week follow-up appointment yesterday and I will receive my first fill/adjustment on October 26. I was kinda worried because it's 3 days before I leave for vacation, but they told me they would add 2 cc's then and I should be ok. They will then and 4 cc's two weeks later. I can't wait!

  22. My surgeon told me if I was having problems passing gas, I could use 1 oz of Milk of Mag. or 10 oz of Citrate Mag. or Ducolax Tab. I also know others who have used Benefiber. I didn't have a problem passing gas but wanted to let you know some of your options. Have a great day!
  23. I think that's normal. I have more pain in my port site this morning, I think it's from sleeping in a bed that doesn't incline like the one's in the hospital. It's not horrible though. I realize I am going to have some pain, I just had surgery. I hope you were able to burp that feeling away.
  24. I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well. My surgery went great also. The worst part was being in the recovery room for 7.5 hours waiting for a room. I feel pretty good right now. A little tender in the belly area, but not bad. I did get 5 incisions, how may did you get? Take Care of Yourself!
  25. I can't believe the first day of my new life is only a couple days away. A few of my friends have asked me if I'm nervous or excited; it's so much more than that. I haven't had surgery yet and this whole process has been filled with so many more emotions than that. It's hard to describe...you all probably know what I'm talking about. I am very blessed to have the opportunity to turn my life around and have what I believe is a second chance. I liked the name that MishiB posted a while back, Sapphire Banditos. I also wanted to add that I found a great deal on Zero Carb Isopure today at my local GNC. The 12 pack bottles were only $12.49 because they were nearing the expiration date, November 18, 2009. They will definitely be gone before then!! Check your local store to see if they may have some also.
