  1. I was doing so well, in the first four weeks I lost 31lbs! I was cruising along until my body caught on and STOPPED!!!! I have now been at a stall for 2 weeks. I am losing my motivation fast and the desire to exercise is quickly fading but still exercising. When I first realized I was at a stall I told myself that I didn't need to post anything as I have read so many other posts and seems almost everyone stalls......but I can't take it any longer. Seems to me most of you stall for a few days or a week, anyone have a longer stall this early post op? My frustrations are growing quickly. I didn't measure myself so not sure if I'm losing any inches, however my clothes don't seem to be any bigger. I am eating between 700-810 calories a day. I feel like I am actually going to be "that" person that this doesn't work for
  2. I saw my PCP last week and while I was there I asked him about a medic alert and he said it wasn't necessary for the VSG. He did suggest that I might want to put a piece of paper in my wallet near my DL that had my vsg mentioned on it along with my medical condition (that I already have an ID for) and any medication I am currently taking, both over the counter and prescription. So I typed one up the next day and it's in my wallet.
  3. Hey Ivy, How are you doing? I started full liquids Friday night with cream of chicken Soup mixed with Water to be safe will mix with milk next time. It took me two days to eat it, but I ate it slowly and did great. I also had a Atkins shake, drank it slowly and it was fine also. I'm back on clears today as I have an upper respiratory infection and not feeling well at all. I know I should be feeling great from the surgery but with this lingering I'm not on top of my game yet - but will be very soon! Good luck to you and I still need to get our pictures posted but have been on here very limited. Will PM you once they are posted.
  4. Thank you both, I needed the reassurance even though I knew exactly what I was going to do anyway. I just can't think of any reason for this logic. If I get more feedback, I will share her "logic" for this.
  5. So my Aunt was talking to a friend of hers who has had the lapband. She told my Aunt to make sure I knew NOT to brush my teeth for 15 min if I got slimes or even threw up? That does not make sense to me as that is coating your teeth to protect from the acid that comes up, but why would you not want to brush your teeth for 15 min? That is the first thing I want to do. Has anyone else heard anything like this?
  6. Steph, I have to admit I agree with everyone else that the phentermine is a bad idea. When I went in for my first initial appt. on WLS one of the items required was a psychological "clearance." Does your insurance cover any type of mental health? Maybe look to talk to someone about behavior modification. I am keeping this in the back of my mind just in case it is something I find that I need in the future if I find myself in the same situation. Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress!
  7. Thanks Vegas, I sent her an email and will let you know what she says....just in case someone else comes up with this irritating cough.
  8. Wow, I started looking for classes near my house and found a bunch! Now how many weeks do I need to wait post op before I start these classes?
  9. I have noticed over the past couple of days I have developed a dry cough. No allergies, no cold, doesn't exist when I go to bed only really starts when I try to talk. I am even able to do those breathing exercises without coughing. Do you think this can be another side effect of that anesthesia? It was totally worth it - I wouldn't have done the surgery without it, just curious if it is how long it will last?
  10. Judy asked that I post that she is up and walking. Also aware that tomorrow will be tough. She's a trooper and it was great having her come in to overlap our stay. She is the absolute sweetest thing. She wants to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I'm heading back to Vegas tomorrow and should have some pictues posted soon of many of Dr Aceves "works of art" this week.
  11. I'm out and on the road to losersville. We will all have to try and set up maybe an annual weekend. Hey Vegas would be a great start! I haven't heard from Orchidfan sees diagnol across the hall. I was the last procedure so I'm sure you all will be hearing from her soon. Well I think that is about all I can do think I need to get some sleep. Thank you all for you support we both appreciate it. Judy if I'm not out wandering the halls I am in room 27 see you soon.
  12. Orchidfan and I have made it to Mexicali and had a wonderful dinner last night with her father. Today is the day. We are at the hospital and are waiting to go in for our VG. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I hope this comes out on the forum clear as I'm typing it onto the site with my blackberry. Hope we are both online later with our progress.
  13. Congrats Shanda! I've been reading your posts and WAITING for your scale update. It is so encouraging. Sounds like you've been doing so well, with a few small bumps in the road. Have your emotions balanced out? Good luck and looking forward to joining you on the "losers" side in a few days. I will do my best to stay off the scale for the first two weeks so I can only hope for a scale victory even if its not close to yours it will feel great!
  14. Thanks Judy! That is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for collecting all of us and posting it together. Wow, it is going to be just like camp for sure! LOL - See you Wednesday!
  15. I agree with Tiffy - hair loss is a side effect of all surgeries, generally it is a side effect of the anesthesia and I believe it can last up to 8 months post surgery. I don't think it is so severe that others notice it (other than our hair dressers).
  16. I am very excited! I actually got my suitcase out to pack today - I think Ky.hen has been planning on her packing details for quite awhile. I am really looking forward to this, I haven't had anytime to be nervous but I'm sure once I am on the plane it will hit me. I feel like I'm going to camp - LOL
  17. We WILL NOT leave without you! That would be great if your Dad came with you, my parents weren't supportive either but understand now and actually are watching my son and then bringing him home from IL when I get home and had a few days to rest and recoup in my quiet house. See you Monday, if I'm not at the gate I'm at baggage with the keys so Ernesto can't take off - LOL
  18. Ivy what time are you arriving, are you going to be there by 1:00 for the drive with Ernesto to Mexicali? If so I will try to meet you over at your gate and then we can find Ernesto together at baggage. What online games do you play? Look forward to meeting you Monday.
  19. Mac posted a link that explains it. Great link and I look forward to trying it out one day... Good luck!
  20. CONGRATULATIONS Cajun! So glad that everything went well for you. Good luck on your loss and keep us posted!
  21. I SO just went through this as I prep for my VG on Tuesday. Steph could you please post the other books that you find helpful in my/our "rehab." Thank you so much!
  22. Hello all, as most of us are aware Dr. Aceves will have his hands full of VST'ers next week. When I started this journey I was planning on traveling alone...now with my fellow VST'ers I don't feel as though I am going to be there alone at all. Would you please mind posting your arrival dates so that we know who we can find and when. I know there are numerous posts, but thought now that it is "crunch" time this might be easier to get a clear picture of who is where and when  so we can offer our support to one another. Also, if you don't mind loaning items to others, such as movies, please list those. I myself will be taking Pretty Woman, Shrek, Step Brothers and a few others yet to be determined. Arrivng Monday 9/28 Departing Friday 10/2 I can't "weight" for this to all be over so I can start my NEW LIFE! :confused1:
  23. So glad to see you had a wonderful experience. I'm very excited as I leave Monday to join you on the "losers" side. Please posts your experiences I keep reading all of these positive and supportive posts....but recent, "excellent" experiences seem to be very reassuring to me. Good luck with everything, looking forward to reading more on your experiences (procedure and through your recovery and beyond). Thanks so much for the post. Congrats!
  24. Hi Donna, Thanks for all of the info. How long does that case last? I could probably figure it out, but figured it would just be easier (and quicker) to ask :biggrin0:
  25. I HAD IT FIGURED OUT....I was wondering if I was right :scared0:
