  1. Hi everyone, I am new to the board (well actually lurking for a couple of weeks). I have been researching lap band for a couple of years and finally made the decision to go ahead with the process and I am very excited about it. I had my consultation with the doctor last week and am currently waiting to hear back from insurance. My question is actually if anyone who has been overweight/obese since childhood can be successful with lapband. Most people talk about how they gained weight after they were in their 30's or after having children but I have been overweight since about the age of 2 and probably would have been before that if I hadn't been 6 weeks premature. I have been obese to morbidly obese since I was a teenager and I am now 36 years old. Is there anyone out there that was in the same boat and still successful?
