Keep trying different brands, I like 'Boost' and 'Slimfast' high protein. Infortuantely the better tasting ones tend to cost more. Try adding half a banana + the shake + a drop of vanilla + a few ice cubes and pulverize it in a blender (I use a wand style blender). Also make sure the shakes are cold! Warm shakes are gross tasting; or at least they taste that way to me. I am not a meat lover, so it is hard for me to eat more than one (much less two) servings of cooked animal muscle every day. Soy protien shakes and Silk (replaced all milk products with Silk) are a staple in my kitchen.

Thankfully, I am 9 months post surgery and I have not had a single episode of getting stuck. I have been very careful about reteaching my brain and body to slow down and chew, both thoroughly and slowly before I swallow anything. I thought I was about to change my "zero" record this morning when I stupidly tried to swallow one of the fish oil tablets I used to take before surgery. My brain had a stupid moment when 'it' thought I wouldn't have any trouble swallowing a pill the size of a small football! I can still feel it 6 hours and many icky burps later; but I did not vomit, staying calm and talking my brain through the pain was an experience I care not to repeat.
