I started out in life as a regular person, not fat. In high school I played sports and was as active as most teenagers are. Then, I got married and had 3 kids! Two of them are 13 months apart, so I really didn't have time in between pregnancies to lose weight before gaining more. I develpoed hypothyroidism during my second pregnancy, and when I had my last child I weighed in at 243. It had been a year since my pregnancy, and I had not lost an ounce. I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror. I couldn't breath, I certainly didn't feel like going any place, because I'm only 28 and I didn't look like most women my age cause I was big. I hated myself. So, I started looking into lap band. I really never even looked into other types of surgery first. I knew what I wanted and I researched everything. Some of my family memebers asked me if I was okay with only being able to eat certain things for the rest of forever and if not being able to drink sodas what really what I wanted to do. I told them that if giving that stuff up helped me like myself more, and would make me a more pleasent person...then I would be willing to give it up! So, I found Dr. Bovard, we had a little get together and talked about my weight issues and about a month later I had surgery!! It has been a long road, and not as easy as I thought it was going to be. i have fallen off the wagon a few times...but those days are over. I just got a fill on 08-04-09 and from here on in I am only going to do what I am supposed to do! I hope that sharing my story with you has inspired you to get lap band, even though it's tuff at times...I wouldn't change it for the world!!
