  1. I recently gave birth to twins (9/18/12). I had my band emptied at 24 weeks and I had gained 20 lbs at that point, but my band was getting more restrictive. I weighed 240 lbs when I gave birth...so I gained 70lbs during my pregnancy. I am now 222 pounds and just had my band adjusted to 4cc. I can't believe I lost so much control and gained so much. It makes me angry that I have to start this journey over again. I know if I did it once, I can do it again...I can loose 50 lbs by March!
  2. I am 39 years old...banded July 26, 2009. I met my goal of 100lbs of weight loss. I became pregnant in January, 2012...with TWINS!!!! I am 29 weeks and I have gained 28 pounds, but I am pretty miserable right now. In the last week, things are getting stuck and I am only consuming liquids. My drs want me to gain 15 pounds before delivery so that my boys will get bigger. I will deliver early at 36 because of the high risk twin pregnancy I am having. I don't mind gaining more weight for them. They have to be 5 lbs each in 7 weeks...so I have to fatten up a little more. Normal twin pregnancies suggest the average woman gain 40-45 pounds and I will be on target with that, but will have to have my band adjusted. My lapband dr says he is only going to take 1/2 out. I am happy with that. I cried making the phone call but I know it is for the boys. Prior to getting pregnant, I was so happy with my weight loss. I will have 1/4 of the 1/2 put back in four weeks after the c-section and then go from there. I am so thrilled my dr is not taking it all out. I don't need it all out, just loosened a little. Thick soups are giving me problems and that is when I knew I needed to get the adjustment.
  3. I am gaining too...I am eating more often 15 pounds since October of last year. I have gained about 8 during the pregnancy. I am 12 weeks with twins. I am freaking out too ,much???

  6. I am the opposite. I am gaining weight pretty quickly and I am pregnant with twins. I lost 100 pounds with my band(July,2009). I had my last fill April, 2011. I have gained about 15 lbs since last fall (I weighed 165 in October and now I am 180). I also got married last fall and I believe that I have gained due to the fact that I needed an adjustment prior to getting pregnant...sometimes I worry about slippage/erosion causing weight gain...I still feel restriction though...I just eat more often. I am scared that I am going to gain too much weight. I know I am pregnant but it is hard to see that scale moving up. Anyone else out there tell me what it is like to gain weight while banded...I never gained weight before...I would see the scale stop moving down and get an adjustment. At 165 lbs, I wore a size 10, and I am wearing a medium maternity pants, so maybe it is just the babies...I don't know..advice, please.
  7. Thanks Alex for reminding me to update my profile. It has been an amazing two years. I love the new and improved me. I have no regrets about getting the surgery done. My whole life has been enhanced by my decision.

    Forty pounds gone!!!

I have lost as of today forty pounds since July 7! I feel like a different person. I bought a pair of 16 jeans from the Gap and they fit perfect. I am no longer in women's clothing sizes. I am so happy but people around me are starting to become jealous and making comments that I don't eat enough. I counter by saying..."well, I used to eat too much and you didn't say anything then." I am starting to feel like the old me again...the out going girl from ten years ago. I threw away the big girl panties and bought all new Victoria Secrets stuff...the lady said oh...you are a 38D and a large panty...I haev matching bra and panty sets for the first time in seven years. I am sooooo happpy!!!! Thank GOD for my mom who help me afford to have the lap band and for my doctor...Dr. David Rau...I love me more than I have in a long time and I am so happy to be back having fun!

Banded July 30th - how long do you wear the surgi-strips?

I was told the same thing...I go to the dr for my post surgery check up and they said the dr would probably take them off then.

Phase one...what was your turning point?

I am not in phase one anymore...I was banded a week ago but...My turning point was when I couldn't be the active mom my daughter deserved. She wanted me to go in the pool with her but I was so ashamed of how i looked in the mirror that I would not go...she cried because of me. Right then I knew I had to make the change. I will not let my daughter miss out on fun because of me.

to tell or not to tell?

I haven't told the guy I am seeing that I have had lap band ...not sure why...he thinks i had so type of female procedure done. What should I tell him? How do I tell him? How do you share it with someone you meet?

    Two days post op

I saw a picture of myself and I couldn't believe it was me. Right then I knew I needed to make a change. I have struggled all my life with my weight. My ex left me because of my weight and he was embarassed to be seen with me. He never would admit it but I knew. He stopped taking me places. At my heaviest I was a size 22. I then went on prescription diet pills and got down to a 18...not small but at least better. Then after the weight loss stopped and it started creeping back on...I decided to have lap band May 2009. On July 24, 2009 I had my procedure. I know my life will change

I am feeling much better. I am able to sleep better...actually slept on my side with my daughter snuggled up nect to me this afternoon. I ate some homemade egg drop soup about 2 ozs, but it was yummy. I also have found ocean spray sugar free cran-grape drink mix...it is a wonderful change from crystal light. I was able to get out today for a little while. I know tomorrow I will feel even better.
