    A narrowing?!

Sometimes after surgery the opening to the top pouch from the esophagus gets constricted from swelling or from the trauma. It kind of sticks together. Or the constriction of the band itself between the two pouches of the stomach closes off or narrows. This happened to me and they did a upper GI or endoscopy passed a tube with a balloon and dilated the opening. I also had gastritis and pylops in my stomach. So two Nexium a day now but I can swallow!!! I was banded 7/13/09 and just now can eat solid food. Very slowly and small bites also I have no restriction right now with my band. Oh the procedure was painless and over in 45 minutes. Pay attention to your symptoms. I got dehydrated and it was rough. Dizzy, tingling, numbness and weakness and low grade fever 99.2 to 100. Take care Karen
  4. Hi, my name is Karen and I used Dr. Adam Smith in Fort Worth,Tx. I was banded on July 13,09. Office staff and doctor are nice, helpful and their teaching and information hand outs really have pertinent information. I had a couple of issues wtih excessive swelling of my stomach and getting fluids down. They always take my calls and help me through.
  5. Banded 2 weeks ago. 3cc's removed at 1 week post op Tues 7/21/09 because I could not drink. Then I swelled and on Friday 7/24/09 IV fluids with decadron(steroid to help) and another 1cc removed. Now again on Sunday back pain, golf ball in stomach feels lower than on Friday but lots of belching and spitting. I do get hungry but can not hold more than a few sips. Then it sits there uncomfortable, cannot drink protein shakes or water. I have tried cold drinks, warm drinks. I feel like I could eat but afraid to try. Could I be blocked again? or is this bandster hell? ha

    Any help please

I hate to admit it but I'm not sure. I know that my doctor doesn't fill during surgery, but maybe after testing the band all the saline didn't drain back out. Sounds a little unlikely I know. Like I said any advice would be so appreciated. I think I'm better no severe back or chest pain yet today. I had odwalla chocolate 3 oz. and a half wet egg. Thanks guys for responding.
  7. HELP!!!2 weeks post op. Had a blockage of stoma,IV given at office on Friday 7/24/09. Still have discomfort in back and chest. My question is If I am belching is my stoma unblocked? Or has it reswelled?
