  1. I'm new here and considering the Lap band. I really need to do something about my weight. I have tried so many diets and failed at them. I have two little babies(7months and 20 months) and would love to have more some day. But I had gestational diabetes with both of them. Also diabetes run in my family. So I think this is a great option for me and my family. But anyways. My question is: Can I tell my doctor what I want my end weight to be? I'm currently 249lbs and would like to be no less than 150lbs but would be just fine with 165lbs. This would still leave me "overweight" according to the BMI calculators. But honestly I was happy and felt healthy at that weight. And I'm also bigger boned too.
