Lap Band Blues!
hello, I am so sorry to hear about your experience. I have been told that it is a bonus to loose weight prior to a fill. Keep on doing what you have been doing... just a thought coming from an outsider... are you eating your protein as prescribed and veggies, staying away from the carbs? eating 3 meals plus the snacks? are you measuring out your protien portions? just a few thoughts to keep in mind. Please do not be discouraged, this is an ongoing learning process.. this is not an overnight fix. I hope all goes well for you

September 2009 Band Date
good morning, I was also banded 9/1/09 and it has been ok.. for the most part.. I also work night shifts, but will not start back on those till next week sometime. I do go back to days on Thurs. I have to be cleared by our occ. health and was placed on 10lb weight restriction till the middle of next week. So, my supervisor put me on her version of admin. duty ( basicly doing some of her paperwork). I am trying to figure out, hunger versus generalized rumbling.... also I did learn the hard way, if it says decaff, use only decaff.. I got sick on sat. did not leave the house at all. I had a recipie mix for my protein shakes and used the wrng coffee.. I am growning tired of the shakes, but i have not had to repeat the same one two times in a row.. i am ready to chew something of substance.. well, tell me how you are doing take care

3 days post op..
Hello everyone, I was banded on Tues. I feel pretty good. I was able to take a walk on Wed. and stopped taking pain meds on yesterday. This morning I went for a walk medium speed for 15min. I am in some pain, but mostly soreness at the port site and that gassy pain in my left shoulder and upper chest. I am trying to master my dietary requirements... I was told to first think of hydration and then my goal is 90grams of protien a day. well here is my question- How many calories a day and total amount of carbs per day? If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated :smile2:

What pre-op test are most having to do?
Hello, it pretty much depends on your surgeon.. EKG( to look at how your heart is beating, any abnormal rhythms)- also if you have a history of heart problems. chest xray, labs- complete blood cout-CBC, metabolic panel- to look at your electrolytes, that is pretty much the basics. hope this helps.

I was thinking of putting my self on the liquid diet in the middle of next week. - to get used to the idea  I am also getting more nervous when i sit down and really thing about this.. but I do know it is for the best.

September 2009 Band Date
hello, to everyone!!! I have not been on here for awhile for I will bring everyone up todate.. yesterday I had the 3 1/2 hour clinical and nutritional class and today I had my pre-op labs/xray completed. Now, next week, I will meet with my surgeon. I have a question, are the fills/ MD. appt. covered by the insuance company? and we just pay a co-pay, or is this part of the program fee?

September 2009 Band Date
Hello, I am also a 9/1/09 bander, and I am looking loking forward to the procedure but also nervous with this life changing event. But, please take the stories in stride- or rather people's complications as information to store in the back of your mind. I look at it as yes I am aware of issues after surgery, so it is better to know than not be informed. This is funny coming from me... but maintain a POSITIVE attitude... that is all we can do at the moment.. .. TOOOOO late to back out.. LOL.. and if you are on a shake at Christmas.. but healthy and still slimming down... COOOOOOL take care
