4 days post op - can't eat much at all!
Hi everyone...just wanted to check in and see how you're all doing. I'm 4 days post op, and can't eat much at all. I feel like I am getting an appetite back, like when my family eats it is starting to look appealing, but I can't even get 1/2 can of soup down, or 1/2 protein shake. My pain is substantially better, although I think I may be doing too much physically, with my kids. What kind of activity are you all doing at this point? Love to all....

What meds did your doctor give you after surgery?
Hey kids - just wondering, if you already had surgery, what pain meds did your dr give you to go home with? Mine gave me Tylenol with codeine, which really sucks and really doesn't help at all. I was expecting something alot stronger. Just curious what you all have.

Finallly Banded on 8/10/09
Hi everyone - I was banded on the 10th too and I hate to join the consensus, but I thought it would be easier also! Its bearable. I had alot of pain yesterday, thank God I stayed overnight in the hospital. I don't know how you girls did it that came home the same day, you are WARRIORS! I'm sure of course it will get better, but today, lots of gas and yes that port site hurts like hell whenever I move. I was disappointed my dr only sent me home with Tylenol with codeine. I thought I needed something stronger, since they had me on a morphine pump in the hospital! We will all be feeling much more ourselves in a couple days, from what I hear.

Hey girls - i too have not been so great with the pre-op diet, glad to know I'm not alone. I had a 7 day liquid, I was good the first 2 days then I ate one meal days 3, 4, 5 and today so far so good...tomorrow I have to do clear liquids, day before surgery. Hope I didn't mess anything up. Very disappointed in my lack of self control

Freaking out a little! Monday is the day!
Hi girls, I feel your nervousness. I had my pre-op appt yesterday also and it was kind of a WAKE UP YOU"RE HAVING SURGERY! THIS IS REAL!!! moment. We had something called "boot camp" yesterday where a bunch of people came in and talked to all the patients having surgery next week. The other ladies I talked to seemed to also be feeling somewhat freaked out. I think its because we CHOSE this and could back out if we wanted to. BUT, we know deep down its the right thing for our health. Uggghhh. In a few months, we will know it was all worth it!

Hi everyone - Congratulations Adelarosa on making through the first part of your journey successfully! Good to hear its not so bad and that you are fine! Hey, what is the single incision thing, I thought they need to make a few little incisions? I have a final appt with my doctor tomorrow, guess this is something I need to ask about!

I'm desperate - need support/help!
Morning everyone! Miss K, I think you need to stay away from these "funny" people for the week! I couldn't really be around my husband while he was eating last night. What kind of Protein shake are you having? I am using Jay Robb (recommended by a friend), not bad. I am putting it in the blender with some skim milk and ice and its really not bad. I"m sure they are all fairly similar, but the milk and ice help! I'm going to buy some flavor extracts today, like coconut and almond maybe, to pop in there. I must say, I feel alot better today mentally than I did yesterday. We are on day TWO, we can do this! :smile2:

I'm desperate - need support/help!
WOW you are all the best, nicest and supportive group of people! I think your words really got me through the day, seriously. After lunch I started to get myself together (skipped the mexican place!) Now I'm feeling ok. I will survive! Tripletmamma, you just put me in my place, 3 weeks? WOW. How do you feel after all this time of not eating? Good/lighter/weak/strong? Bet you've dropped some pounds already! You are right, I was battling that "come on, whats one more day of food, it won't make a difference" and it prob wouldn't have, but to start off cheating just felt so wrong....Thanks again ladies, i hope I can be of some support in the coming days!:smile2: Lisa

I'm desperate - need support/help!
Thank you all so much for the words of encouragement, it means the world at a time like this! Did I have last suppers, yup! So ridiculous, I didn't want to go to bed last night because I knew when I woke up it would be a world without my FOOD! I was up eating Milanos and milk at midnight (wouldn't tell anyone else that!) Abbypoo, how are you feeling? What does your diet consist of? Again, thanks so much ladies. Sometimes a few words can make all the difference

I'm desperate - need support/help!
Hi everyone - Just don't know where to turn this morning, so I'm turning here, I know some of you will understand. Today is the first day of my liquid diet, its not even 10am, and I'm having major difficulties mentally. I'm actually thinking, well maybe I'll just start it tomorrow, so I can go to my favorite Mexican place for lunch with my friend. Supposed to do it for 7 days and surgery is next Monday. I'm rationalizing all over, like well, my BMI is not so high, maybe I can not do liquid diet, or just for a few days. I'm so ashamed that I am actually trying to break the rules, and I've only been doing this a few hours. I'm scared at my weakness. OK, not sure what I'm asking, but HELP!

Pre-op Diet?
Hi everyone! I start my pre-op diet tomorrow, one week of liquids. Surgery is on the 10th. I can have protein shakes (good friend said her favorite was Jay Robb), I really want to try to the Walmart Body Fortress but I heard they were bad, anyone else like them? I can have sugar free jello, SF ice pops, low fat cream soup, farina or cream of wheat...broth...I think this week long diet is stressing me out more than the actual surgery! Hopefully it won't be as bad as I think. Of course tonight I am having a big pasta dinner as a farewell. Pasta has been my "friend" my whole life, we might have to part ways for the most part....Hope you all are doing well - strong women!

Freaking out!
Hi Princess, you sound alot like me! I have two little ones, 7 and 3, and I feel so guilty all the time because I just can't keep up with them and go outside and play like I should, and they suffer for it. They need a healthy, happy mommy. I guess I just feel bad that I wasn't able to take the initiative and do it on my own. BUT!!! THis is a positive thing for us, and yes we are worth it...Great idea to get so organized, I will have to get busy and do the same. I have been trying to load up on protein shake stuff and other "liquids" for before and after the surgery. I think its ok for us to want to look good while living our life! Its a big bonus, but the health issues are what scared me into this. High blood pressure and high sugar:bored:

Freaking out!
Hi girls - I too, am freaking out. Surgery is the 10th. I start my liquid diet on Monday (1 week only!) Like others have said, I know it is the right thing for my health and well being, its just SCARY....the whole lifestyle change. Overwhelming to me. I know some people are excited, and I wish I could be!

Better Late Than Never.
Hi! Former girl - That must be very mentally difficult to do your pre-op diet still waiting for approval! I am dreading starting mine but I see you all are doing it, so I can too...I will keep my fingers crossed for you on the approval, I bet you will hear back today. Keep bugging them, thats always my motto! Let us know.

Aug 10th is surgery!
Hi Allison, I go in next Thurs for what they call Boot Camp (where they tell you all you need to know about what to expect, etc) and also for my pre op bloodwork. What is your surgery date Allison? I guess the cold feet is probably normal...??? Ha ha! We will be much better off I'm sure, it just sometimes seems so drastic, but being so overweight is also drastic and dangerous, does it sound like I'm talking myself into this? LOL. From what I've heard the pre op diet gets easier after a few days, hang in there girlfriend!

Better Late Than Never.
Hi again Jenny and Liz - thank you both for the helpful websites, they both look great! It really helps having people to "talk" to that understand. I hope you both keep in touch and I will try not to bug you but would love to hear how you both are doing, since you are one week ahead of me. You must both be so excited, so soon for you! Jenny, I was reading your blog, you are going through some stuff right now, huh?? Hang in there, you sound like a strong woman. Did you find a better shake than Slim Fast yet? I am still reading up on them, haven't decided what to buy yet. My pre-op is strictly liquid.

Better Late Than Never.
Hi Liz! My insurance finally came back this morning with an approval also, my surgery is on the 10th. I am suddenly feeling very nervous and scared and doubting my decision, even though I know deep down its for the best. Obviously I can't do this on my own! I am going to check out Fitday.com right now, thanks for the tip!:crying: Lisa

Aug 10th is surgery!
Hi everyone - I am also scheduled for Aug 10, just got my approval about an hour ago! I feel like I am getting cold feet, like am I doing the right thing, did I really try hard enough on my own, etc. Anyone else have these feelings? Even though I know its the right thing and am doing it for my health. On the shake issue, I am allowed to mix mine with non-fat milk for my week long pre-op diet, didn't start yet (next Monday)...Are you allowed anything besides the shakes? I can have cream soups, cream of wheat, sugar free jello/ice pops, etc.

OK, Who has an AUGUST surgery date??!!
Hi everyone! I am scheduled for August 10th. Excited and nervous, especially about the liquid pre-diet, which I only have to do for ONE week, which seems short compared to what I see most people saying (2 or 3 weeks). Wondering what kind of protein drinks everyone is buying, I'm kind of dreading that part, heard alot of them are pretty gross. Any suggestions would be great! Is there anyone here going to Atlanticare in Atlantic CIty, Dr. O???

OK, Who has an AUGUST surgery date??!!
Thanks for the feedback, not trying to be negative, sorry if I sound that way! My husband and mother are not very happy about me having this surgery. My BMI is 37, which is unhealthy (I'm on blood pressure medicine and my sugar is borderline diabetic) so I need to lose weight badly! I just have not done anything about it since my first child(7 years ago). I really feel that I need this extra help. Guess I'm just looking for some validation! I don't eat massive amounts of food, but I do pick all day and eat the WRONG things and don't exercise. I know I have alot of behavior modification to work on.

OK, Who has an AUGUST surgery date??!!
Hi everyone, just wanted to get your thoughts. I am scheduled for Aug 10th (can't wait) but....I am getting some negative feedback from people with stories of friends who had the surgery and then didn't lose much, or gained alot back. I'm so scared to do this and then not have the results I am hoping for. Have you all heard good/bad things? Just venting and stressing
