Hi, Just wondering if I do decide to go to Belgium for surgery do I have to go to London or Dublin to meed the surgeon for a consultation first?

Hi, I am currently in the process of researching to have a gastric band fitted. As I live in Northern Ireland and we don't have NHS funding it will have to be a private op. I just have some random questions and thought I would ask in one go. * If I choose to go somewhere like Belgium will I have to fly out there BEFORE I get the go-ahead for the Op then back again for the Op? Does it differ in the Uk....if I chose someone like Shaw Somers would I need to go a few times? * What sort of price is expected in the UK? I don't have money to burn but want to have a good surgeon. *Shaw Somers seems to get fabulous reports and I could go to Chichester for that...any opinions or experiences? Thats it for now!

Hi, I have struggled and struggled with my weight from childhood and fed up....after years of research and thinking about it I feel a band is for me. Have not been able to find much info about this being available in Ireland and thought I would ask here. I am in the North but anywhere in Ireland is fine.
