    What is happiness?

That's awesome! How do you know when you find that "sweet spot"? I've had a bunch of fills but still not sure what I'm feeling and if I'm "there" yet.
  2. I'm afraid I've never heard of this happening to anyone before. I hope Monday your doctor can figure out what is wrong. Please keep us posted.
  3. Hey there...I see things are going GREAT for you!! congrats!! You are doing awesome! I'm still over 200 pounds...dangit! what's your secret?

  4. Thanks Astrasmom...that makes sense. I've done more research too and you are exactly right....each time you get a fill, your body has to readjust and there will be some things that you will never be able to eat again. Noone ever told me anything like that before. All in all, it's a good thing because things like french toast is what got me in the shape I was in to need the lab band to begin with!
  5. It's odd that's happening to you without a fill. Have you talked to your doctor? I had some problems right after surgery and had to be hospitalized and have my esphogus stretched cuz it had somehow closed. I just got a fill last week and I was doing good until yesterday. Now, when I eat, I get that stuck, very painful feeling in my chest. The weird thing is that I've eaten a hotdog and it was fine...I ate fish and a baked potato and it was fine. But last night I tried to eat hamburger helper and I thought i was going to die cuz it hurt so bad. then this morning I tried french toast and same thing happened. I was in so much pain I was yelling at my husband to make me throw up. Even trying to drink Water to wash it down hurt. I was banded back in July, so I know all the dos and don'ts so this is really confusing me. Before my fill, I could eat whatever and for the first 5-6 days I could eat whatever but all of the sudden I can't eat anything. This ever happen to anyone? I'm doing a lot of exercise. I started "boot camp" where I work and there's a lot of running and sit ups...my husband seems to think that I over did it and somehow my band slipped...is that possible?
  6. How did your second fill go? Do you have more restriction? I have my second fill next week...I hope it helps cuz the weight loss has all but stopped. I've lost 43 pounds so far. Congrats on meeting your 1st goal...that's awesome!! I don't exercise like I should. I've had hemroid surgery and shoulder surgery within 2 weeks of each other so I'm doing more recuperating than anything!! I'm the surgery queen!! LOL Once I get out of this sling I'm gonna get back to the exercise. How about you...do you exercise?

    I haven't been on in a little while....ok, over a month, I think. I have my first fill on Friday (9-11-09) Pre-op 7-16-09 277 Last time 8-3-09 252.8 Today 9-9-09 244 Total lost 33 pounds
  8. Yes, I am finally adjusting and things are going good. I've lost 33 pounds so far. I go in Friday for my first fill. How did your fill go? I am a little worried about it because of all the trouble I had to begin with!! How are things going for you?

  9. Well, I got the lap band and now I'm regretting it! Wednesday an ambulance had to be called out to the house because I couldn't keep anything down. At first if was just the protein stuff but by Wed...nothing would stay down. I couldn't stand up straight and was completely miserable. My husband brought me in the laptop today so I could find some help because I'm not getting it here. Today was the first day that I was allowed to eat anything because I was severely dehydrated and now have a kidney infection. All I have eaten today is less than 2 oz of chicken broth and I feel like a rock is stuck in my stomach. I ate the two oz around 1 and it is now 8 pm. I'm burping and farting like crazy, have the runs and feel terrible. I haven't seen my nurse since she came in around lunch time to say..."Just don't eat anymore and you will be fine." 7 hours later....still feel the same. Any advice??? :cool2:

Hey there....sorry it has taken me so long to update. I got to come home finally last night. Monday morning I went in for the EGD and the doc said for some reason where my band was, the hole was not even as big as my pinkie. He said he stretched it out (not sure how exactly) and now it is as big as his thumb. Finally, last night around 5 he came to my room to check on me and said I could go home. I have to stay on the liquid diet another week and then switch to mushie for 4 weeks. Since I've been home.....so far so good (knock on wood). I went back to work today and that was kinda weird. Being gassy at home or in the hospital is one thing but in public...it's a little embarrassing. :juggle: I don't know about the rest of you but I am TIRED!! Those of you that are 4-6 weeks out....does this get easier???? Thanks for listening!

    miserable help

Hang in there. As the gas from the surgery dissipates, that will help you feel alot better. Nutritionally, we've been told that the broth, popsicles and Water are all you need for now. You are doing good with being able to keep it all down so that is GREAT! (I'm currently in the hospital with dehydration and a kidney infection because I couldn't keep anything down so make sure you drink your water!! VERY important!!) As for the pain meds, I would talk to your doc about getting something different if you don't like the way it makes you fee. Things will get better. This site is wonderful and the people are amazing and very supportive! Also, make sure you go to your support meetings locally, as this will help you with nutritional ideas and emotional support. One last thing, check with your surgeon and see if there was a partial fill during surgery. I've read of people on this site who had a fill during surgery and didn't even know it. Don't give up...things will get better.
  18. I don't mean to sound overly dramatic, but seriosly I feel like I'm dying! It's been a week tomorrow since I've been banded and I can only keep down popsicles, jello and water. Any protein I try to get in makes me heave gas and clear bubbly fluid within the hour. It hurts so bad and I'm miserable!! Any suggestions???

    Please help. I'm dying here

YAY! I found how to get back to this thread! Amazing how a little looking around you can figure out how to work this site! LOL I wanted to thank all of you for your words of encouragement. I'm currently back in hospital and have been since Wed. I was severely dehydrated and have a kidney infection. Monday my doc wants to do an EGD to see what's up with my stomach. Hoping and praying that he goes in, finds something simple, fixes it and I'm home by Tuesday! Wish me luck.....I miss being at home with my 4 kids!
  20. I am feeling your pain. I'm currently in the hospital. I'm 9 days post-op and can't keep anything down. Monday my Doc is going to go in and do a EGD to see what's going on in my stomach. Keep me posted on how things are going for you and if I find any answers on Monday, I'll let you know! Good luck!

Update from the hospital...they brought me in some Juven and so far so good. I'm actually keeping it down!!
  22. My surgeon recommended that I'm off for 2 weeks. You may want to take that extra week, just to be sure.

My surgeon stopped by this morning and pretty much he has no idea what is going on. He says Monday he will put me under and go down my throat and check things out. He says he does this often with gastric bypass patients but I'm the first with the lap band. What a long weekend this will be!
