  1. I have met her already at a seminar and absolutely clocked with her instantly. My PCP chose Dr. Gibbs I quickly called him up and demanded Vemulapalli. I will have my first consultation at the end of June. Looking forward to it.

    Any Bronx Pre/Post Op Banders?

I attended the seminar at Montefiore a couple of weeks ago. after spending almost a decade, in fear of bariatric surgery I find myself excited. I spoke directly with the doctor giving the seminar and was able to get an appointment relatively fast. I go on June 29th and am in the process of looking for a psychiatrist/psychologist for the consult/evaluation that is needed. I was born and raised in the Bronx. I am American but my grandparents come from Puerto Rico, but live in a Dominican household lol. I have 2 kids and I will be marrying their father my partner on September 6th 2009. Something I waited forever for. And to show my doctor it's not about vanity I asked that the surgery be done AFTER my wedding. Doesn't matter what I look like that day, cause its not about looks that I am making this sacrifice, its about having years and years and years to spend with him rather than just a couple. Hope I can find some people in my area and learn about the support groups that we'll have to attend. Have a great weekend all.

    Any Bronx Pre/Post Op Banders?

:thumbup:Wow I wish you much success. I have Dr. Vemulapalli and she is great she actually explained all my options and explained I would benefit more from the bypass. After all the research I agreed with her and am on my way. I still have no surgery date, I am attending my first support group tonight. I will email you so u could have my aol messenger.
  4. So how did the surgery go? I just joined today but generally what you should have been told is that Medicaid is the primary and they are the ones paying for it. They will pay for it as long as you have the need. Keep us in the loop as to how its going. You're basically a month in, what does it feel like? I have no scheduled date yet because my first consultation is at the end of June.

    New here!

I haven't had my first consult but met with my doctor at a seminar that she gave. We waited til the other prospective patients left and spoke and alone with my weight and all the sacrifices I have made to get this surgery (IUD and cut my work schedule) she believes I'd never be denied for the surgery. Just hoping to find a good psychologist so I can get the psch evaluation out of the way already. I have 2 kids, a boy age 7 a girl age 4 and I am doing this so I can be at my grandkids wedding. LOL
