  1. Hi~! I'm new to the site. I applied for lap-band in late 2007, and was denied by Health Plus. I'm the one everyone looks at and says...WHAT?! *YOU* don't need this! My husband, at 390 pounds, decided to make the jump and have gastric, so I backed off, and let him get going on his surgery. Meantime, We changed to Blue Cross and I re-applied, and was approved. I'm 5'7". In Jan 08 - i was 270 lbs and wearing a size 20 (ok, 22 if i wanted ot be comfortable), and I had to weigh in for 6 mos. BCBS changed the requirements and I only needed 3 "weigh ins". When I started the 2 week liquid diet on May 20, i was 251. I was banded on Jun 4 and today I weigh 235. Now that I'm 5 days post, I have a question. This whole, "elephant sitting on the chest" thing that everyone talks about..... holy moly! At first, I thought i was having a heart attack. Then I thought.... it was left over gas from the surgery. Then I thought....no.... I'm nacious. Is that feeling gas? or is it that "restricted" feeling? I'm not sure. I dont think it would be restriction since there is no fill yet. When I drink (no....i havent trained myself yet and still occassionally gulp!).... or eat...I feel perfectly normal. Like I could go eat a Big Mac ....but then in between eating, I feel this elephant!
