September Bandsters
Have you called your Dr? Can you take a few days off and see if it feels better? I wish I had some advise. Take care.

So sorry to hear all you are going through. I wish you all the best with your scope this week. Hopefully it is something minor.

Welcome butterlfy, and congratulations on your banding. I'm a big unjury fan too. I've liked all the flavors, especially unflavored.

It was 2 or 3 days after surgery that I was outside walking for 30min, but it was a very slow pace. The first 2 days I was walking in the house every hour or so for about 10 minutes.

I'm sorry you are in so much pain. What did your surgeon's office say to do about a ripped stitch? I'm afraid I did a similar thing last weekend, but the pain didn't last more then a few minutes (but it was REALLY bad for those minutes). I'm assuming there is nothing they can do about it, but just curious.

Heidi, Welcome to LBT. How great to be going through this with your sister. I was banded the day before you. My surgeon only requires 1 week of liquids, then 3 weeks of mushies. Every surgeon seems to have a different program so I can't answer your "why" question. I will tell you when I was on liquids I was averaging 300 - 400 calories/day and about 60 grams of protein. I found using fitday to keep track of everything is very helpful. How much protein are you getting in / day now? Your weight loss is great, but if you need to cheat, try something a bit easier on your tummy like applesauce or thick soup. I would be way to scared to try sausage at this point. Hang in there...you are doing great.

How long are you supposed to be on liquids?

Thanks. I'm feeling good. I have a seroma / hematoma above my port incision. It is a little uncomfortable when I bend down to pick stuff up from the floor. My surgeon said it could be many weeks until it completely drains. Other then that, my energy is good, gas pains are gone. I'm walking my St. Bernard everyday and using 8lb hand weights to help my arms tone as I lose weight. I'm expecting to need a tummy tuck someday, but really dont want to have anymore plastic surgery beyond that. I'm hoping to avoid the really flappy arm thing by working on it everyday.

Ratgirl, I'm not sure how old your kids are, but 4 days is probably enough. My kids are 7 & 11 and they don't know I had surgery. My husband was home with me the day I had surgery, but that was it. Outpatient surgery was Tuesday, Wed the kids were in school during the day and I napped most the day. By Thursday I was driving the kids to their activities, etc. You should be fine. Good luck!

How are you doing one week post op? I think I remember reading that you were having issues with a lot of nausea and not really drinking much. I hope you have turned the corner.

Diane, I am so happy to hear all went well. I was so worried that your surgery wasn't going to happen. Thanks for the update. Rest up and post when you can.

Unfills for vacation purposes
I was recently banded and just had my post op appt. The Dr. said to schedule my next appt for 6 weeks for my first adjustment. I asked him if I could wait until 7 weeks, because I am going on vacation in 6 weeks. On one hand I would love to have restriction to keep myself inline during vacation. But since it is my first fill I am concerned about how I might react. I will also be flying, and have heard some people get tighter when flying. Because of all this, I opted to wait until the day I get back. I don't think I would opt for an unfill just for vacation, but I'm not sure I would go get a fill right before one either.

One other thing...I am big on keeping records of measurements, and have for the past 10 years. I checked them again today and my bust, waist and hips are all down about 2" each. I'm still wearing sweat pants most days, so I can't say I've noticed any big change in how my clothes fit, but I'm thrilled with the loss so far.

getting banded october 16 very nervous
Come read through some of the September Bandsters thread. This will give you a great insight into what those of us recently banded are going through. I was banded 12 days ago and feel great. Took pain meds for 1 day, then tylenol for another day. Smooth sailing ever since. Good luck!

Erin, Way to go!!!! I see your ticker!!!! Bettina, I'm feeling great. I'm down 16lbs in 2 weeks. I'm not hungry yet, which is great. I'm able to get most my protein from mushies now, so most days I am down to one protein shake. One very amusing side effect that I have run into is eating the same food for 4 or 5 meals in a row. We have so much leftover since I am eating so little that I have the same leftovers a couple days in a row. We had pulled bbq pork on Friday for dinner. I took 2 tablespoons and put them in my mini food processor and it tasted great (even if it did look like cat food!). So that became Sat's lunch, dinner, and todays lunch. I think I am officially burned out of pulled pork. Tonight I will try pot roast. I think the consistancy will be pretty similar, so hopefully no problems. When I was on liquids only I was running about 400 calories. Now that I'm on mushies I am at about 600 calories/day.

I Need Help....
I was banded on a Tuesday and by Saturday I was feeling pretty good. Sunday I actually was cooking food for my family and went to a baby shower. Nobody knows I was banded except my DH. If you have the chance to move surgery to Wed, and take that additional day off I think you would be in pretty good shape. I was just moving very slowly the first few days. Good luck!

BJean, LOL. I did almost the same thing. Last weekend I had to go to a baby shower, and it was the first time I put on more then sweat pants. I was thrilled that some "snug" pants fit really well (even a little loose). All was good till I went to sit down. OMG, that really hurt my abdomen. I spent the next 2 hours at the shower standing or leaning, sipping water and ignoring the food table & champagne. Amazingly it was still a fun party. I immediately changed back to sweats as soon as I got home.

I hope all went well today for jgandg, WandaKay, Dallasmist, and JewelsInLove. I hope you are all resting comfortably, and walking when possible. Good luck tomorrow to diane5467, kellieatkins30, Lila, shell04937, and venetiaann. Try to get a good nights sleep tonight, and you will be joining bandland in no time.

Scar Stages Share yours!
My DH keeps laughing at me that I even care about the scars. Given that most my mid section is totally covered with a million stretch marks, whats a couple little scars thrown in there. I guess I wished they were lower so if I get a TT they would be even lower or gone all together.

Congratulations on your fill. How much did you get? I don't get my first fill until 11/8. Keep us updated on how you are feeling today. Thanks!
