  1. All I have to say is I am SO GLAD I didn't read this post BEFORE my surgery! LOL I have had multiple surgeries in years past so I did know that I would be going commando! But I must agree.....with the GOOD drugs they give ya, who cares! However, my dear hubby is reading over my shoulder and does not like the idea that the dr. was standing between my legs doing the procedure.
  2. Sounds yummy....how many grams of Protein per drink?
  3. I FEEL THE SAME WAY! But maybe this will help some of you. I posted it in another thread before seeing this thread. Let me know if you need other ideas for flavoring. My dr. gave me a pretty good list of flavor ideas. Thought I would post the homemade Protein shake that my dr. recommended. I'm getting used to it......I drank all 32 oz of it today! Yeah me!! 32 oz. 1% or skim milk 1 cup powdered milk That's it........then you can flavor it if you want. Which I do with sugar free Nestles (well it will be TOTALY Sugar Free once I become more acclimated to it!) A couple of hints I learned from my BFF who had LP 2 years ago. Don't buy the generic pwdr. milk. I did and I think it makes a difference in taste. And if you put the mix in the blender or Majic Bullet it tastes much better. You can also add a couple of ice cubes. Makes it a little more like a SHAKE! Don't drink the whole 32 oz mixture in one sitting. It's meant to be (at least) split and sipped. NOT CHUGGED!

  5. Patty, Good.....I'm glad that you have re-read your instructions. It is alot of information and can be OVERWHELMING! My hubby and I were so upset when we read your post that you had been crying all day and were upset. I wish I were there to hug you. Yes, you are right. I don't believe that you have done any serious harm to yourself. Each day is a new day and we are fortunate that we can START OVER! Glad to hear that your instructions told you to do the Protein shakes. From what I have read and heard it is VERY important to get that protein in. It can wreak havoc on your body otherwise! Keep on keepin' on! Sarah:thumbup:
  6. THAT's why we are the AUGUST BANDITS....banding together to protect our sisters! Again, I hope that LOTUSFLOWER is not intimmidated by the unnecessary negativity! Let us hear from you!
  7. If you check out this person's LBT profile you will see that this is not the first time the issue of hatefulness has come up.
  8. OK....so this is why I have never normally posted on a message board. Thought I was safe here but apparently not. I sincerely hope that lotusflower doesn't check back on the boards and read the above sarcastic remark. People, please remember that there is always a NICE way to get your point across. And if you can't do that then perhaps you should ZIP IT! Course words and smart-alecky remarks do not help people that are already struggling! Are Y-O-U serious???
  9. I keep checking back to see if Band76 has posted again. I hope you are doing ok! Sarah
  10. Well put Jenny.....we all need to support each other.
  11. Patty, I can relate somewhat! I was banded 8/5 so I am 6 days post-op. I was so excited to get this procedure done and now I am feeling like as you say, "what the hell have I just done to myself"? And of course, "can I really do this?" has been haunting me since day one. I was supposed to be one week full liquids then mushies. I was so depressed on Sunday that when I talked to my BFF who had the surgery 2 years ago she told me to move forward to the mushies. That has helped but only slightly I must admit. I am supposed to drink a total of 32 oz of Protein shakes a day and I have yet to do that! Today I did 16 oz........after I had done 12 oz I was nauseaus and had to go to bed before I could go to work. (Finished the last 4 oz after work) Had 2 oz mashed potato casserole for dinner (almost 2 1/2 hours ago) and I am still so stuffed that I cannot even think about drinking the reamaining 16 oz. of Protein shake. I gagged on my children's chewable Vitamins this AM! In a nutshell, that is where I am at. I am struggling with depression even though I am on an anti-depressent. Okay...I've went on long enough. Let me know how your tomorrow goes! Sarah
  12. ABSOLUTELY call your Dr.! I hope that by now you have talked to someone and are close to getting relief. Praying in Indiana! Sarah
  13. Today I am 6 days post-op and DUH this whole experience has been much harder than I anticipated. Even though I heard over and over that "it's not going to be easy" and "don't be surprised if you go thru a bit of depression"....yeah right! I thought NOT ME! But I was wrong. The past 2 days have been particularily hard on me, physically and emotionally. I guess physically because I'm NOT 20 anymore and I forget it takes longer for me to heal! Emotionally for several reasons. One being that I keep thinking "Did I make a mistake doing this surgery?", "Am I ever going to feel back to normal", "What if I fail", etc. I am back to work today (office job) and that truly has helped. I still just feel a little BLAH! I continue to be discouraged because I can't get my daily fluids in and I HATE the Protein shake. I have yet to get the 32 oz daily recommended amount in. While I am complaining, I hate the children's chewable Vitamin (I gagged on it this AM)! Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Sarah
  14. abbypo.....best of luck on Wednesday. Soon you will join another group...the finally BANDED group! Let us know how you are as soon as you can! Sarah
  15. Good news......thanks to my husband's incredibly understanding boss, his business trip is cancelled. He will be staying close by this week. Yeah!
  16. I was also banded on 8-4 in Carmel, Indiana. Yesterday was a rough day for me physically. I had extreme gas pains and was miserable. I have been walking at least 3 times a day since I came home from the hospital on Wednesday. (Although I did have to walk every 2 hours in the hospital following surgery) Today has been the toughest for me emotionally. Feeling somewhat depressed. Hope that passes quickly. Oh, and I am hungry ALL THE TIME!
  17. I feel for you. My gas pain was really bad last night. I too took Gasx but really didn't start feeling better until I had a BM. I hope you feel better soon!
  18. I'm starting a new thread since I am now 4 days post-op. The surgery itself was a breeze. (especially when I compare it to my hysterectomy). I walked 2 hours after they got me up to my room. I had no nausea issues. My hubby and I got home on Wednesday afternoon and I slept most of the rest of the day off and on. Thursday I felt pretty good. Was still on the prescription pain meds. Yesterday (Friday) I went totally off of the prescription meds and started taking liquid Tylenol. Today I have had NO pain meds. I am hungry all the time though. My stomach is growling loudly! And I'm a little nervous about the up coming week. My DH leaves tomorrow morning for a business trip to New Jersey and won't be back until next Saturday! Don't know how I am going to do it without him! Everybody else post-op let us know how you are doing!
  19. Sorry I haven't posted sooner. My surgery was on Tuesday. Today is Saturday. I am feeling much better today although I am trying to push the fluids even though I am not normally a drinker. Starting last night I am hungry alot! Yesterday I stopped taking the prescription pain meds and started with liquid Tylenol. I have not had ANY pain meds at all today. My back is getting sore from laying around so much but I am tired and don't feel like doing much.

  22. Okay, I've set up a blog and am going to try to type at least a little something every day.....we'll see how that goes. The address is listed in my signature.
  23. 10. Run & play with my kids but not be huffing & puffing afterwards. 9. Wear shorts and not be embarrassed. 8. Walk up a flight of stairs and not be short of breath 7. Leave the lights on :crying:......if ya know what I mean! 6. Sit on my hubby's lap and not worry about hurting him 5. Shave my legs/paint toe nails without straining 4. Buy a sexy sundress and wear it for my husband (his request) 3. Find myself in more family photos instead of BEHIND the camera all the time. 2. Have one of those old fashioned "bar maid" pictures made for my hubby to drool over. 1. Stop being a wall flower because I am uncomforable with how I look.
  24. I didn't have to do a pre-op diet at all....anybody else not have to do one? Just curious. FOUR MORE DAYS! Yeah me!:crying:
  25. I'm glad you put them in order....my OCD was wanting that done....LOL
