  1. Hi all! Well, it's almost been 3 years since surgery and I am happy to report that I have lost 151 lbs. I am a entirely different person and for the first time in my life I love myself, inside and out.
  2. I was banded on 8/4/09. I weighed 154 lbs the day I started the pre surgery liquid diet. As of today, 12/26/09 I weigh 189 lbs which makes me about -65 lbs. I feel great and am so happy that I am able to move again. I would love to hear how everyone else is doing so far. Happy New Year!
  3. I was banded on the 4th and have had a terrible time sleeing as I am a stomach sleeper. I usually slept either in the recliner or had started out in bed and ended up in the recliner. I have only slept two complete nights in bed and they were not comfortable for me. Woke up each morning with an aching back. I went back to bed this morning and slept on my stomach YAYYYYYYYyyyyyyyy! I slept until after noon. It felt so good. I can't wait to go back tonight! So there is hope for you belly sleepers! Thank you Lord!
  4. Good morning all! I was banded on August 4th and so glad that I did this. I was sore the first few days but feel great now. I noticed my hunger coming back on the 9th but Protein shakes or supplements keep me feeling full. We're going to be super successful people! Yay July Bandsters!
  5. I can not believe that my surgery date is tomorrow. I have been a cool chick until a few minutes ago and the panic started to set in. I know that this procedure is for me, it's just the general surgery part that is making me nervous. I work until 4:30 this afternoon and then go home to drink the magnesium citrate. Has anyone else had to drink this and if so, how bad is it and how bad are the effects after drinking it. Thanks so much everyone. Being able to read your comments has been such a wonderful help. You're all so great!

Surgery tomorrow and nerves are kicking in

I'm on day 4 post op and doing pretty well. I'm still have ab pain but that's to be expected. I'm not getting all of my Protein in and am struggling drinking anything at all as I have NO hunger. Still sleeping in a recliner but can tell that I'm on my way to recovery. Today is the first day that I've felt pain in my left shoulder, I'm hoping that will go away fast! I'm so excited to start this journey. Life is so good!

Surgery tomorrow and nerves are kicking in

Surgery went well and I had the nicest nurses ever. Each of them committed to my comfot an safety. I'm not in much discomfort, just a bit of pain where the port is but the pains not much worse than a sore or bruised muscle. If any of you are in Des Moines and are thinking about getting the Lap Band I highly recommend Dr. Steve Cahalan. He's WONDERFUL! Even called me this afternoon to make sure I was comfortable. I'm so excited for all of you who have upcoming dates scheduled, you're going to be just fine. Now two more weeks of liquids and then I get to graduate to mushies and I can't wait. Just remember, YOU CAN DO THIS and I'm praying for each and everyone of you!
  8. August 4th is coming so fast. Only 6 more days. Ok, here's the question, am I the only one who has a "to do" list that they want to do before they go in for surgery and do not know how they are going to get it all done? I'm not usually obsessive about cleaning but I want everything to be perfectly clean when I come home so that I can really feel like I'm getting a fresh start and to top it all off my nerves are starting to kick in.....:juggle:
  9. August 4th will be my magical day. I'm so excited that I can hardly wait.

    I'm Approved!

I just found out that my insurance company, Blue Cross Iowa, approved me! I can hardly believe it. It took bc/bs almost 4 weeks to approve me but they came through and I am totally thrilled! I'm scheduled for surgery on the 4th of August. YAYYYY!!!!! Thanks so much for all of your posts, they have helped me get ready for this mentally.

Dr. Steven Cahalan - Doc Cahalan

My husband and I met with Dr. Cahalan a few weeks ago. He is one knowledgable (sp?) not to mention nice doctor! I've heard nothing but great things about him from the nurses at the hospital. I'm glad that I've chosen him to be my surgeon.

    psych evaluation

Thanks so much for your help. I truly appreciate it. :blushing:

    psych evaluation

Thanks so much but I guess I'm not getting it. Does the insurance company approve or deny you if you have an eating disorder?

    psych evaluation

So I'm a little confused. Is the psych eval to find out if you have an eating distorder and if it is, is that what the Insurance Company and Doctor is looking for? I'm so confused about this whole psych thing.
  15. I submitted my questionairre and am waiting for the call from the nurse and then they will submit it to the insurance company. Are there any of you out there that have BC Iowa and if so, how long was the turn around time before approval. Thanks in advance.
  16. I lost 119 lbs on Medifast in less than 9 months and as soon as I started eating regular foods again I gained it all back. I felt like I deprived myself from all of the good stuff and here I am fat again. I have tried to go back on it several times and gag at the food. I would avoid it at all costs. It is only a temporary fix.
