    Too much weight for Banding?

You "keep" all the nutrition that you eat with the SLEEVE too. You will probably want one when you get sick of your band.

    LapBand vs. Realize band

My dr told me the realize band is no better than the other one. He said it hasn't been out as long and that's why the stats are better. Smaller #'s equals smaller problems reported. He also said it's better to let the surgeon choose for you while he's in there because they go by the size of your preop stomach when deciding for you. I went with the VSG because I was afraid of slippage, erosion etc.

    Non Scale Victory (NSV)

That's so great! How nice of you to feed skinny people.

Something I read on that other board

I just find it so humorous because cutting the grelin out CAN really make you forget to eat. That's probably the only memory loss loss I've had but it's still early.:lol0:
  5. Well, I made it through my surgery! I was in the hospital 2 days and the hardest part was no liquids for 36 hrs! I thought I would die. I passed my leak test and was able to drink again. It was harder than a c-section. when i 1sr woke up I thought OMG what have I done? 4 days later I'm feeling great and have a job interview today. I'll be on liquids for 3 weeks, mushies 2 weeks, then I can try to eat some real food. How are you doing? Fill me in. It's been awhile since I heard from you. I hope you are well. Julie

  6. Please do not delay in getting yourself help. If Dr makes you feel bad address it with him. You have a right to treatment and a right to feel like you are being treated humanely. I hope you feel better soon.

From a size 22/24 to a 4/6, Band to Sleeve

Thanks so much Wasa. Your story saved me from getting the band. I was to be banded on 06-18-09. I changed my mind about the band 2 weeks before my band surgery. I will be sleeved tomorrow morning at 7:30 am. Sheesh that was a close call!!!!

any texans go threw Dr. Wade Barker?

From what I hear locally he is one of the 2 best bariatric surgeons in North Texas. The other one is Dr. David Kim. Dr Kim's office says Dr Wade Barker is a fantastic surgeon. If I wasn't going w/Kim I would have chosen Barker. You can also go on OH and search Dr Wade Barker's name. There you can easily find past patients to talk to. Good Luck

Putting whey protein in a blender?

Ok I don't doubt this to be true. What about the already premixed/bottled/ready-to-drink shakes? Do they have broken down protien? Just curious.

    I'm dreaming of Plastic Surgery....

Julie, I read your entire blog from beginning to end today! I'm so happy for you and INSPIRED too. I'm on my 5th day of pre-op Optifast only diet & boy do I want Pizza! It's nice to know I'm not the only person who has to Battle with Pizza. I know that you've done it and I can too. You have shared so much with others & given us so much hope. You are my hero Julie. I'm just 2 1/2 weeks from banding and have had so many fears and doubts. After reading your journey I feel like I can & will really succeed. Thank you so much for all you've given me through this blog. Now I am finally really Excited not scared about the future! What a coincidence that I'm a Julie Ann too. God Bless you as you continue your journey. You are such a brave and beautiful person, inside & out. I look forward to reading more of your blogs in the future.

Half Way!!!! - 71 lbs!!!!!! Four months Post-op!!

It gave me chills when I read this. Your band really does ROCK!!!!
  20. Hi Terri, I have been on my Optifast and this is my 3rd day. I am not taking any diet drugs and for that I'm proud. I lost 4lbs the 1st day & 1lb yesterday. This is one of the hardest things I've ever done. I am sooo hungry. I have zero energy. I will make it through though. I'm glad you are feeling well and able to work. Are you hungry too? My doc makes you go 3 more weeks on liquids after surgery. At this rate I will lose alot if weight before I ever even taste food again. Have you lost anymore weight? I hope all is well.

Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?

Wow, it sounds like you got yourself in pretty deep. I don't think you should be ashamed though. You've lost alot of weight. And you DID do it all by youself. Even with the band you have done so well without any moral or emotional support. I do think you should tell the truth even though I'm not sure how. Maybe you can tell the one person you trust more than anyone else and see how they take it. Telling just one person could lift alot of weight off your heart/conscience. Or you might want to seek the guidance of a therapist. Let me just say that just because you lied doesn't make you a bad person. It makes you a survivor! You are a STRONG person! You did what you knew you had to do to make it through this. Maybe it's not totally your fault that you didn't reveal your secret sooner. It sounds like you haven't had much support from those close to you in your life in the past and that's out of your control. It could be partly thier fault that you could not trust them enough to share. So don't be so hard on yourself now. You should be proud of yourself. I'm proud of you! I wish you the best and I know this will turn out for you. Feel free to update me in the future if you feel comfortable doing so.

    Weight loss pills with Lapband

Then I have this ? 4 you. That if you are already a yo-yo dieter, you've already been banded, do you think you really want to add an amphetamine now. Phentermine is just legal meth. You said yourself you can yo-yo without it so why add drugs to your problems? It's no fun after the new wears off and they don't work anymore. You are right back where you started. I'm asking this not to offend you but just to give you something to think about. Where do you go after banding & diet pills don't work? What's gonna be your next option?

Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?

You are so right! We've had enough pain already & unless they've been there then they don't know what they're talking about. Just keep Smiling. I'm counting down with you.
