  2. Lol thanks again. I too have a complicated relationship with this thing called ice cream. Butter pecan is his name! I will just go into this with a positive attitude. Hopefully I will be doing the "happy approved" dance in a few months!
  3. Thanks Kimmyiet...so is it safe to say that it is ok to go below a BMI of 40 during the 3 month nutritional visits? The only difference is your co morbidity. I definitely don't want to get denied because I did get under 40!
  4. Thanks guys.. I had a baby last year and I always lose weight right before, during and right after pregnancy but the weight comes right back in a few months. So that is why my recorded weight and BMI is low for last year. So I'm really nervous about approval on that!
  5. Hello all!! I am new to this so bare with me. I have bcbs Fed and wanted to know if anyone has had a hard time getting approved? I know their requirements and my BMI is right at 40/41 with no comorbidities. I also noticed that they require proof of morbid obesity for at least 2 years. Being that my BMI is at 40/41 and my weight fluctuates, my recorded weight is lower and at a lower BMI. Will this effect my approval? I am scared that I will go through the process and get denied at the end. Just ready to be at a healthy weight
  6. I am glad to hear that someone is going through the same process pace as me. I had my EGD, EKG, Ultrasound and blood work done today. It was only a week ago today when i decided to look into the lap band and here it is a week later and I am almost done with the process. The only thing left is results to the insurance and a surgery date hopefully.
  7. I go tomorrow for my EGD. I thought the EKG and Ultrasound was done at a different time. So you had yours all done the same day? Hopefully after tomorrow I will just be waiting on a surgery date. As far as i know i don't have any ulcers or gallbladder problems. How long did the process take?
  8. Wow, maybe I should stop complaining! Are any of you dealing with Kaiser? My sister has Kaiser and they have the same requirements. She has to take a 20 week course. I just did not want to go through all of this and find out that there is a catch to this. I have asked all possible questions with the surgeon and insurance and everything is just going too smooth. After reading everybodys different journey i feel a little at ease now. Thanks everyone.
  9. I have BCBS PPO Federal. Yes and i do agree with you about the staff they don't know if they are coming or going. What has you process been like so far? I have endoscoptomy Friday have you had yours yet? I don't want to go through this if I don't know if i will be approved or not.
  10. Last week I had consultation with Dr. Salamatari in Beverly Hills. He seems to be a very down to earth person. I just wanted to know if anyone had a bad experience with him. My endoscoptomy is scheduled for Friday and my Pre Op will be scheduled right after but i have not been approved for the surgery yet. Is that the normal process? Please help!!!

  12. Hello everyone, I am new to this and found that this site is really cool. I am looking to get the lap band hopefully within the next month or so. I am 5'2 218 pounds and my BMI is right at 40. I had consultation on 4/24. I met with the surgeon, nutritionist and psyc and the procedure was explained thoroughly. I have an upper endoscopy done on Friday 5/1 and once that is done they are going to schedule me for pre op. My question is, am i doing all of this premature? The surgeons have all of my insurance information but i have not been approved yet. I have BCBS PPO Federal. I am dealing with Weight Loss Centers in Beverly Hills. If anyone has had a similar situation please give me some insight. I am sooo ready to post my results like everyone else but afraid that everything is moving toooo fast. Too good to be true....
