    7 Days Post-Op & Doing Good

Thank you all for your prayers and support. I am 7 days post-op and doing well. Most pain has subsided. I took out the bladder catheter this morning, so I hope I can start urinating. Also I see my urologist this afternoon to see how I am doing. I have been loosing about a 1 to 1 1/2 pounds per day. It is just peeling away.

Scared & 2 Days to VSG Surgery (12/22)

I am a little apprehensive "is this the right thing to do?"... I am a little scared "will I wake up?.. and will everything be okay?" "Will I be able to handle what it is like post-op?" I guess this is where faith comes into play - at least for me. So those of you that pray - would you please say a special little prayer for me? Thank you and God bless you!

  6. I'm home!.. And again thank you all for your prayers and support. It all went very well, except I had some moderate pain afterwards. Nothing that the pain and anti-spasm medicines couldn't deal with. The biggest issue was that I could not urinate, so they put in a Foley catheter. I still have it in (6 days post-op) until I see my urologist this week. So I'm not sure why my bladder was affected? I was urinating just fine before surgery. My surgeon said that it can be a side-effect from the anesthesia and things should be fine in a few days. Nevertheless, I am following-up with my urologist. Other than that, it has been great!... No desire for food at all!.. Amazing!.. Even when I am around it and can smell it. I have lost 9 pounds in 6 days since my surgery on 12/22/09. 19# since I started the 2 week pre-op diet. And it's amazing that I don't care about food anymore. It was right up there with God for me!.. It feels like the "Idol" has been broken!...

  9. I am in day 12 of my 14 day pre-op diet. I have lost 12#. But I still do the "yo-yo" one day good, then the next not so good. That goes for exercising this last week as well. By exercising, it is suppose to help strengthen my lungs and heart for surgery, also help with leg circulation to prevent blood clots after surgery. I know one of the main reasons for the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver to help the surgeon perform the procedure better. But really, how important is the pre-op diet overall? I mean in all reality, how much does it really help?
