  1. Hello everyone. Yesterday I had my lapband installed and I got engaged. I proposed to my girlfriend before we left for the surgery center. The day was all about new beginnings for me and I couldn't think of a better day to do that. (She said Yes by the way ) As far as the surgery itself, it went pretty smooth and was like most of the stories on this thread. I was banded by Dr. Curry at Journeylite in Cincinnati. He's one of the best and his staff was great. I went in at 7 AM and was out by 11. I'm a little sore today but it's really not that bad at all. Walking around really does help out a lot so keep that in mind. I'm just looking forward to the future now and hoping for the best. I want to be healthy and do all those things I can't do now because of my weight. The surgery was the easy part and now comes the work. I'm confident that this will be one of the best decisions that I ever made. Good luck to all of you and God bless.
  2. Hello everyone. My name is Eric. I live in NW Ohio. I'm in the early stages of my banding journey. My story is like so many others that I have read on this site. This forum is such a great way to learn about what to expect (or not to expect) about living with the band. I'm so ready to do this! My biggest fear is living with this band inside of me for the rest of my life. I'm only 33 years old and wonder what it will be like when I'm 60? Do you know what I mean? My insurance does not cover the procedure either so I will have to pay for it myself which sucks but I look at it as an investment in myself for the next 7 years or so. That's really the least of my anxieties though. I really just want to be healthy again and live a long life. I guess the upside is that I don't have to jump through all the insurance hoops, right!? Well here I go I guess. I want to schedule my seminar with Dr. Curry (Cincinnati) sometime in May and hopefully by this time next year I will be a lean mean love machine! Thanks again for allowing me to introduce myself. Oh and if anybody has some nice (reassuring) things to say about Dr. Curry I would love to hear about them. It might put me at ease a little bit more. Eric
