  1. Well, DH just called Anthem for me, and it turns out we do not have ANY coverage for WLS. I am really sad now...I know there is no way we can afford to self-pay for this.
  2. Well, I just found out my plan does not have the "morbid obesity" section so I have absolutely no coverage for WLS.
  3. Hi all, I'm just trying to find folks who have had their WLS approved (or denied) by Anthem Healthkeepers HMO. I am about 99% sure that they will cover it as long as my PCP thinks it's necessary, but I'm a little overwhelmed by all the steps involved. Any info is appreciated! Thanks!
  4. Does anyone here locally have experience with getting coverage for WLS from Anthem Healthkeepers HMO? From what I've read, they'll cover it if my BMI is over 40 (or 35 with co-morbidities). My concern is that I will have to document previous weight loss attempts, and I've never been on a "medically supervised" regime. Any thoughts/suggestions? edit: I did search the insurance threads, but was not able to find much specific to my insurance.
  5. Hey all, I'm a Norfolk mom considering LapBand. Glad to have found this forum as it seems to be a great source of info. I am seeing my primary care doctor this week to discuss the surgery. I have a BMI of 41 at the moment and am having chronic skin infections under my belly flap (apron? pannus? none of those words sound too appealing, do they?). I am pretty certain that LapBand is the right choice for me, now I am just researching how I will get my insurance to cover it.
