  1. I just found this site after a horrible experience this week. I am glad that other people have had this problem. I suffered a bad reflux episode out of nowhere the other night. I continued to try and sleep sitting up only to jump out of bed w/ that terrible reflux flying up my throat and into my mouth at times. I was coughing terribly. By 5 am that morning I was in the hoppital w/ a high fever and shaking, not shivering, uncontrollably. It turned out to be aspiration pneumonia. My regular doctor sent me to my surgeon immediately to have my band loosened. I knew that acid reflux was a side effect, but I didn't know about the aspirating. How ignorant on my part. Be careful everyone. Seek help immediately if this happens.
