  1. Hi everyone, (Port-infection) I had surgery on March 12. A week post-op I noticed an infection developing at the post site area under the skin. Redness and warmth, but no drainage. My doctor started me on Antibiotics right away, but it did not respond to the antibiotics and a second antibiotic was added 6 days later. Still did not get any better - continued to get worse. Now my doctor opened the incision back up again today and drained it, but the infection reached the port itself and the port is now contaminated and I now have go through another surgery to have the port removed and possible even the band if the infection reached the band too. He said he will try and salvage the band and just replace the port. Has anyone else gone through this? I am very discouraged, having to get this replacement done.

Help - Is This Pain Normal?

Hi, I have the exact pain that you are describing. I am 11 days post-op and still having these pains. My doctor told me the port is sutured into the muscle and some of the pain could be that. I also have pain after drinking sometimes, but I realized that it is usually after drinking COLD liquids. I hear this is common, but I am having a really hard time getting use to Room Temperature Water.

    Swimming/Baths

The Pool is the only form of exercise I get, so I asked many questions on this subject. My answer by my Surgeon was to wait until all incisions are completely healed and there are NO scabs remaining. Usually takes about 6 weeks for most, but everyone is different.

    new to lapband

Hi, I'm new to this too. I also had my surgery last thursday. The Post-op Seminar I went to yesterday, stated that this shoulder pain is indeed GAS pains from the surgery and will eventually get better and YES walking will help it get better sooner.
