Bandless after 5 years
I am battleing with the thought, do I have it taken out or have the replacement. I have pre-op tomorrow for a Hiatal hernia and my Dr. said he would have to take the old one out and replace with a new one and I am scared to death. My husband and son wants me to have it taken out and I am scared to death about gaining 54 pounds back. A lot of friends have lost weight through the Thrive program and says I can to but can I? I have lost about 10 lbs but have my lap band to fall back on. I was banded in 2005 and didn't start having any problems until appx 2 yrs ago.

Bandless after 5 years
- Help just told need to replace or removw my lap band
I know exactly what you are going through. I have a hiatal hernia and my husband thinks it was caused from the lap band so now him and my sons wants it out. I have lost 54 pounds and the thought of gaining it back scares me to death. I have to actually make my mind up today due to having post op on Friday and surgery next Thursday. I have prayed and prayed but I am not sure if I am listening with my fear and not hearing my answer or if God is letting me figure this out. After all he made me and he didn't put a lap band in so I should have enough faith to know he will help me through it big or little, but I don't want to be big again and I am terrified. And, you can also look at the fact that he gave the surgeons the knowledge to make the lap bands or we wouldn't have them. My husband says I can go to any weight loss program I want but I did that for years and ended up at 229 pounds before the lap band. - Liquid pooling in my throat at night....
I have the same problem and my doctor said it was a Hiatal Hernia, which I am having sugery for the 31st. I am considering have the band taken out to avoid going throught this again. I have been banded sincer 2005. Sometimes I even have to sleep in the recliner to get some rest. They say put 2 4" blocks under the head of your bed but I have not done that.- Hi, my first day with the forum
I do not have a problem with anything going down, water or food. It is not like when I would have a fill. I do need to have it checked, it has been a while since I have been.- Hi, my first day with the forum
I had surgery a few years back and in the past year and half I have gained appx 20 lbs, a couple of pounds at a time. I don't know if it is my age or what. I don't eat that much because if I do it comes back as fast as it went in. I don't eat late because it make me cough and choke at night if I do. Is it too late to start loosing again? Any suggestions of what to do? I only had 3 fills but no more than I eat that is sufficient.- Not losing weight and having problems now...HELP
It's been several years since I had sugery but now every time I turn around I have gain a couple of pounds. In the past year I have gain probably 14 lbs. Is it possible to start losing again? I think the band is tight enough because if I eat and lay down within a few hours I wake up with it trying to come back up couching and choking. When I eat, it is only a few bites and I am full. There are times I can eat more and it doesn't bother me but very seldom. I have only had 3 fills since surgery. Has anybody done this and started over lossing again? - Help just told need to replace or removw my lap band
