  1. I was banded on Feb. 11th 2009, and I had a lot of gas pains in the back and shoulders. It really does get better I wish you could talk to your doctor or his nurse just so they could reassure you or check you out. Take care.
  2. I make a big pitcher of Barg's homemade root beer with splenda and it satisfies my pop addiction. I use to drink diet coke alot and sometimes diet root beer so it was not a hard transition for me. It just isn't offered other places.
  3. The support group is open to anyone so join us tonight at the surgery center on Corporate at 7. btw I got a little saline taken out and then ate too much cause I could and got sick...when will I ever learn:sad:
  4. I don't do the water stuff while getting the fill, just sip some afterwards. My first and second fill were rather exciting too. my port decided to flip over so the doctor played pickup sticks with a couple of needles and flipped it over....It had sealed itself into a pouch of fluid but it didn't hurt at all just a little pressure. nothing to deaden it or anything..The third fill the pouch had no more fluid and they couldn't flip the port so I went back into surgery and they turn that sucker over I haven't had any real trouble...except now I am too tight and they will unfill a bit tomorrow. I had my first fill 2 or 3 weeks after surgery. I think I have lost about 40 lbs.
  5. The doctors in HOUMA have done between 300 andd 400 lap band procedures. We have a support group that meets the last Wednesday of the month at the surgery center. I find the group very helpful and encouraging.
  6. I spoke to the nurse at my doctor's office and I go in tomorrow for an adjustment. They will take out a bit of fluid this time.
  7. I have had 3 fills and I am definitly restricted. My problem is it hurts to eat. I know I am chewing and eating slowly but one or two bites and then I am in pain. I have the back ache and shoulder ache from the time after surgery. I can eat crayfish but chicken and beef kill me. i couldn't even eat a scrambled egg today. It even hurts to drink. I am one unhappy camper.
  8. I just found your message and it was really inspiring for me, i have had two fills and only lost weight before and right after surgery... so you have given me hope...
  9. ok you want to be really depressed i have had 2 fills and can still eat like there is no tomorrow..... Yesterday was my worst ever ,today was better....I know it will get better but yuck.
  10. I was banded on 2/12 and got my second fill yesterday. I ate a much smaller amount tonight and feel full, i hope this one is the right one. I am still having trouble with my port flipping over. If it flip again they will go back in and resew it down. This does not exicite me. I am not as tired as I was but until this second fill did not feel full for very long I am hoping I can really start to lose weight now. I have lost 25 lbs but only 10 since surgery. But I am not losing faith in the band I am just ready to eat less without the hunger.
  11. I had my first fill last monday, I was doing great until yesterday I grazed all day I am doing better today..I also don't feel much restriction and get the chest pain and back pain if I eat too much or too fast. I had an interesting time with my fill,, the area where the port was had filled with fluid and the port was upside down...So they extracted the fluid and used a couple of needles to turn the port over and then completed the fill. hopefully it stays in place now. But there was little to no pain and they didn't numb anyything.
  12. I actually gain a few lbs. sob sob I do great in the morning and at lunch, but I am eating way too much at night, I get my first fill on Monday. i hope it helps..It is so amazing to me how different all our doctors and diets are. ing
  13. Congratulations on your weight lost and your pregnancy...both are two great things. My shoulder pain has gotten to be just a twinge evey now and then. i am going to have to notice if it is when i am full or empty. I get my first fill on Monday.
  14. I am really hungry too, I fill up fast but I am hungry again in a very short time. I get a fill in two weeks, well almost one week now. i have been told we are hungry because the swelling has gone down and we have very little restriction with just the band. My doctor said the back ache was from irriatation of the diaphram. I am trying to hold off on eating everything in sight.
  15. I went to water aerobics again yesterday. ran into a friend who was banded 3 years ago she has lost 140 lbs and still has about 30 to go....but she is looking good, feeling good and is ok with the food etc..She gave me a good boost. I have bad knees and can't walk very far so water is my best option.
  16. I just made regular tuna, chicken, or egg salad with a small amount of chicken broth to slightly thin it out. It was not soupy. I was banded on the 12th so my 3 week anniversary is tomorrow. I am lucky we have alot of seafood here and I can eat boiled shrimp, or crabs or crawfish. So I have taken advantage of that but my doctor said try to stay away from rice and pasta. they tend to expand after you eat them and can cause you problems.. Cottage cheese for breakfast, low carb yogurt, or eggs...I had red beans from Popeyes for lunch and chicken salad for supper tonight
  17. First day at the Y and the water felt wonderful. I am planning on going 3 to 4 days a week. Back pain is less today. I feel better.
  18. I am doing better today, pain in the back is a lot less I went to water aerobics this morning. do you have any recipes that use moist meat etc? I have made turkey chili chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, beef stew(this was too heavy I had a hard time after eating this)
  19. My doctor said it is the band that causes the back ache that the diaphram is probably still irritated and that it should clear up soon. I haven't lost any weight this week:confused: but he said i could go back to water aerobics tomorrow. the wound from the tape is almost completly healed The nurses suggested eating soft foods to see if that helped. I have a really good doctor and team of nurses. I will probably get my first fill in 2 weeks.
  20. I just don't feel great. I have a dull pain in my back like a gall bladder pain, the nurse at my clinic said it was because the band is tight. My eating isn't great but not totallly out of control. I am trying to eat less to see if the back pain will go away. Does anyone else have this pain? I see my doctor tomorrow afternoon.
  21. I was thinking the same thing I hope I don't go crazy now that I can eat. I don't get my first fill until 5 or 6 weeks after surgery and today it is only 2 weeks.:tt1:
  22. Hi I was banded 2 weeks ago today. I can now eat anything but they suggest eat protein first, then vegetable, then fruit and if I am still hungry a carb. I did great yesterday but today protien wasn't easily available and I ate more of the other foods....now I am sad:frown: Our big suggestion is to eat moist protien I am going to really have to start cooking again. /when I was on liquids I got away without hitting the stove much. My husband is on Nutrisystems so I just popped some vegetables in the microwave. My soft munchies were cottage cheese, cheese sticks, egg salad and tuna salad, lentils, white beans, scrambled eggs. I have now lost 24.6 lbs. 10 post op.
  23. I also just had steri tape and everything was done and healed by 7 days. I lost 3lbs since surgery and nothing else. It will be two weeks on Thursday. I want to be melting away now
  24. I don't have pain in the belly at all I don't even know where my port is I keep probing for it but I can't find it. I have now lost 23 lbs. I see the nurse on the 25th and the doctor on March3. My shoulder is feeling better. :w00t:
  25. I had a scrambled egg this morning and it went down fine and I had creamy white beans for lunch..I am going to ask hubby to go to eat boiled crabs tonight...They are on my list of soft proteins..Life is good. My shoulder barely hurt at all today..I have a tear on my bellly from tape used on drape during surgery so that is a bit of a concern but I am on antibodics and silver sufadene cream. I am doing fine:rolleyes:
