Too Stitch Or Not Too Stitch??
I agree, they may have been talking about stiching your incisions up. I had mine glued with that purple stuff and a friend of mine had her's stapled and my scars look much better. The small one's are hard to even see and the port scar looks much better than her stapled scars.

First fill...
What size band do you have? The 9.75cm that holds 4cc's or the bigger vg band that holds 10ccs? That will determine more about how much fill they will give you. It took 3 fills before I felt a big difference and my fills don't ever give me the full effect until about one week after I get one. You'll probably tell somewhat immediately but just not really good restriction until they hit your sweet spot. My sweet spot seems to be at 1.6 cc's in my 4cc's inamed 9.75cm low profile band. Keep us informed on how your fill goes. They're very very fast, about 10 seconds and not painful.

Oh I thought the picture was funny. I think I'm going to start weighing that way myself. Oh, Steph, so sorry you and your family have the flu. Hope you get well fast. Kids seem to bounce back quicker than we do. Hope your feeling great very soon. I am scheduled to have my flu shot tomorrow afternoon. I didn't reallize I had waited until about the last minute. Oh guys, this was my first unfill, They took me from 2 cc's to 1.6, so -.4 taken out and it made a huge difference. I can not eat meats again and actually swallow food and haven't had the first getting stuck or pbing or nothing. It feels so much better. Now, I just hope I don't overeat and gain. So far since surgery I've never stayed the same or gained each month, always a loss so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Chat Room...
I have been on here for months and have been banded for 5 months and I can't ever find anyone on chat. I wished we could set up a time and us all meet. I would love to chat with over people on here because I consider everyone on here my extended family. Maybe we can spark up some interest.

How much protein should i eat a day
I agree, my surgeon told me between 60-80 grams per day.

I called Dr. Sanchez's office today
No, from what his office told me it had nothing to do with ready4achange and unless you know the whole story with ready4achange you would know what I mean. They said he was putting the larger band in everyone and there are 9 of us that I know and sent personally to him that all have the 4cc's band so it was all a big lie. He washed his hands with ready4achange. The murder was from a robbery means, nothing to do with the lapband surgeries from what they told me.

Yes it was Dr. Suzanne who does the fills. I have talked to his office yesterday and today and it was a setup execution. They were hiding behind a fence roll and just executed him. Very very sad loss.

BabyGotBack, Was the 15 min you were in surgery after all the prep work? I ask my surgeon today, fill surgeon about it and he's been doing them for 5 years and he said the quickest he can do one is 40 min. and that's pushing it. I just wished I knew why it took mine so long. Maybe my liver was big or something. Just consider yourself lucky to had a 15 min. surgery. That's quick.

I called his office today to make sure and get funeral arrangements so I can fly down this weekend. He and Dr. Suzanne went to his ranch early Saturday morning so he could pay his ranch hands. After he paid them he was walking back to his truck when he was shot twice in the back. He made it to the hospital and was being prepared to go into surgery when he bled to death. They said it was a planned assasin. I have been just sick. He truly gave me a new life, he gave me a second chance and why do people do this to the good people in life. I know he's in a better place but it just won't be the same without him. His precious wife was banded as well and a very very sweet lady. I will just really miss him.

July 2006 Band Crew
Hi everyone, Have just cried all day about Dr. Sanchez, such a sad sad waste and shame. I had .40 taken out. I thought I had 3 cc's in a 4 cc band but I had 2 cc's. Now I have 1.60. Man, I feel sooooooooooo much better. I actually ate some chicken tonight and went right down, no problem at all. I feel human again. I had still lost 5 pounds in the past 4 weeks but I think I will do better with not being so tight. Congrats on your little kitten Beth. Talk to you guys later.

I called Dr. Sanchez's office today
Yes, so so sad but true. I called Alma today to find out funeral arrangements and see how his wife is doing and he was brutally murdered Saturday. Dr. Suzanne was with him. He went to his ranch to pay his ranch hands and as he was leaving he was shot twice in the back. He was bleeding bad but made it to the hospital, but before they could do surgery he bled to death. They lodged in his stomach. He was such a dear dear sweet man. Kindest most knowledgable surgeon there was with the lapband. He will be sadly missed. One of the girls I had surgery with wants to fly down with me this weekend. Will let everyone know more when I know more. Please pray for his precious sweet wife and family.

Wow, I've never heard of it taking 15 min. I know 9 people personally, but they are all Dr. Sanchez patients and it took 50 min. for all of us. That's quick.

Hi everyone, Glad you had a good time Beth, I still can't eat hardly anything. I can't eat any protein at all. I am at the Ramada here in Cinci, I have an appt. with Dr. C in the morning for my first unfill. I was doing great at 2.65 and losing 2 pounds a week but nothing do me but to get more fill. I'm at 3.0 now, don't you think I sure back it back off to 2.65? I hate to have all of my last fill removed since they're so expensive but I can't take anymore of this pbing, tight, sliming, hiccuping, it's driving me insane. Hope everyone is doing great. Hope all goes well for me tomorrow. I have a little bit of dread so everyone send me they're good vibes. Love you all, Sherri Hair is still coming out by the handfulls and so hubby finally bought me a dustbuster thing and told me not to leave the bathroom each morning until I sucked all of my hair up he said it's like a jungle in there, LOL.

Question for Dr. C!!!
Yep, I can agree with that. I'm here in Cinci at the Ramada right now waiting to see Dr. C in the morning for my first unfill. I have 3.00cc's in a 4cc's band and can't eat or keep anything down. It always takes my fills at least a week. I hope all is well with you.

How 'protected' (safe) is port??
I have 2 mini daschunds and a one year old granddaugher and I've not noticed anything like that. I ride 4wheelers, do situps, and so far no problems. I have heard of people being in bad car accidents and one lady had some problems with the impact but that's all I've heard. I think you'll be fine.

Just joined
Welcome Z, Congrats on your decision for a new life. Mine was 8500.00 for everything from start to finish. Free fills for life. I had mine done in Mexico with a surgeon who has done more than anyone, more than 7000. I had Anthem BC/BS and they don't cover hardly anything. Good luck with your insurance. That's the route to go if you can stand jumping through their hoops and waiting. I was just too impatient. Welcome to lbt.

4 days post op
I'm 5'7" but older, 41, and weigh about 218. I would be more than happy to talk with you. Just pm me or email me either.

Why did I do this to myself..........
You'll get there. Don't be so hard on yourself. First of all you've just been banded and have no restriction plus you've not had a fill yet so you should feel no different yet than before surgery. After you get good restriction trust me, you won't be able to overeat on the good foods.
-
Question about last fill, etc.
That's not a whole lot of fill for that size band. I stay swelled for at least 7 days. I would try just calling my surgeon and then doing the liquids/mushies also, make sure your chewing, chewing, chewing and then chew some more. I also eat with my granddaughters baby spoon and fork and cut into pieces I would cut for her. This will also cause you to get the stuck feeling if you don't do. Good luck.

Just starting research
I too had disc problems. Have had neck and back surgeries and this had helped me dramatically.
