  1. Hi I am new on here, and I am so glad I have found somewhere like this. I had a gastric band fitted 2 years ago and I have always felt alone as I have never met anyone else who has had the band fitted. Anyway the first year of the band was perfect, I lost 2 stone easily. This last year has been a rollercoaster of extreams. One time I ended up in hospital on a drip as my band was too tight and couldn't keep my own saliva down. (At this point I was going through a private company and couldn't afford to pay for the band to be loosend) I then had the band loosened (my mother paid) and was okay. But started to put on a lot of weight. Anyway, the band started to feel tighter, but I hadn't had a fill. It got so tight that I started to be keep awake at night with acid regurgitation. I went to my GP who (not knowing anything about Gastric Bands) refered me for a gastroscopy. Luckily the doctor doing the gastroscopy was a gastric band surgeon and told me I didn't need the gastroscopy and just loosend the band. He also admitted me into his NHS clinic. I started to eat again, and went to his clinic to have a fill. The band felt to tight so he took some Fluid out about a fortnight later. That was in October. I have been fine since then until new years eve. I had just booked my band fill appointment (for 13th Jan) just a week earlier. but since new years eve I have not been able to eat anything bar the odd portion of mashed potato. Today has been the worse again struggling to keep saliva down, even though I haven't eaten or drank anything since last night. Does anyone know why my band keeps getting tighter all the time. I am worried that I am getting into a cycle where the band gets too tight - I get it loosend - I put on weight - the band gets tight again. Please help...
