  1. I also had my inverted sleeve with Dr. Kim in Colleyville, TX. It was comforting to know this would give me extra protection against leaks. Dr. Kim only does the inverted sleeve... He does not offer it any other way so it's the same cost. I highly recommend him if you're in the area. They have an office in Frisco too.
  2. Shrinkmepls I'm so happy to hear that. Dr.Kim is wonderful. I know you'll be happy with him!
  3. Hooray Cat! Looking forward to you joining our group.
  4. Jess - Dr. Kim really does offer some wonderful aftercare programs. They really help keep me motivated and I've tried new things I never thought I'd do. The events also help you build relationships with other patients. I've made some wonderful friends.
  5. I had the inverted sleeve by Dr Kim on 11/4/14. I'm down 113 pounds!
  6. Hi shrinkmepls! Dr. Kim did my inverted sleeve 11/4/14. I've lost 113 lbs and still losing. You will love him, his staff and his office. I did not use insurance so I don't have much help in that area but indo know the ladies at the office know there stuff and they will take care of you. I do hope you choose Dr. Kim as you're surgeon. It has been nothing but a wonderful experience for me. I have met some amazing people through some of the aftercare benefits they have. And the opportunities KBI has given me as a patient has been a big part of my success. Good luck to you!
  7. I also had my sleeve done with Dr. Kim. I can't say enough good thing about him and his staff. It was the best decision I've ever made. From the moment I walked in their doors I knew I had chosen the right place. Everyone there is so welcoming and informed. Since surgery on 11/4/14 I have lost 107 lbs 5 pant sizes. Im 17 lbs from goal. Kim Bariatric Institute provides so much in the way of after care, like some have already said. I have found the support groups, private facebook page and monthly dinners to be such a valuable part of my journey. I have not had a single negative experience with Dr. Kim or anyone on his staff - they are truly my 2nd family now and I have a love and appreciation for them that I know will continue to grow.
  8. Got my staples out a few days ago. Feeling great. Ive lost a total of 31 pounds since my pre op diet (11 of those since the surgery). I'm 12 days post op today so I feel great about that loss. My abdominal pain was so much better yesterday. I can take a deep breath sleep on my stomach and stretch now!!!
  9. I'm feeling better today. I'm 8 days post op. Ready to get my staples out!!! I go in Friday for that. I'm drinking Protein shakes and eating strained Soup a couple times a day. I'm getting plenty of Water but I prefer hot herbal tea, it seems to go down easier. Down 26 lbs as of yesterday!!!
  10. My surgeon was Dr, Kim as well. Im 5 days post op!
  11. Hello again everyone. Today I am 5 days post op. I have been super tired the last two days and gas pain creeped up on my yesterday even though I thought it was gone. Wasn't too bad though and drinking warm tea seemed to help. I have been on Clear liquids but today my doctor says I can start his Phase 2 which is Protein shakes, heart healthy strained cream Soups and clear liquids. I'm looking forward to getting some calories in and seeing if that helps me feel less tired. I will say...Yesterday, I got so overwhelmed with feeling like 'OMG this isn't going to work for me. I'm not going to feel full, I'm still going to eat everything in front of me' I think I feel this way because I really haven't had a hard time getting fluids in and so many other people did. I was able to drink a full 60 oz of Water on day 3. And my mind started say well if you can do that on day 3 you'll probably eat a whole pizza on week 3. ughghgh Anyway since I get to start the shakes and soups today, I'm hoping I'll notice that full feeling everyone talks about.
  12. Hey everyone. I am doing really great today. I was released from the hospital the same day as my surgery. I was able to drink, pee and walk around fairly quickly. Some how I got lucky and my gas pain only lasted a day. Until this morning I was having a lot of trouble drinking. I could easily get it down but it felt weird and uncomfortable when it hit my stomach. This morning I'm drinking hot herbal tea and it feels great. I'm really going to try and focus on getting all my fluids in today. Sleeping was a little tough for me the first couple nights because I don't sleep on my back. Last night I was able to sleep on my right side for half the night and that really helped. How is everyone else doing?
  13. I will! I almost can't believe the day is finally here. This decision was 7 years in the making for me.
  14. My surgery is November 4th. Checking in at 7am. 2 days away. My nerves are high but I'm excited at the same time. Any last minute tips or advice????
  15. I would like to loose around 120 lbs. I have no idea what size that would make me so I'm not even sure what my goal is. I'm trying not to focus to much on the amount of weight I will lose or what my dress size will be but more on what more I able to do and increasing my energy. Believe me I want to shop in the regular sizes and look at the scale without disgust but I am excited to start being more active and involved. I understand about paying out of pocket, I am too. I ultimately chose Dr. Kim because I am extremely picky about my doctors and the staff they employ. I felt so welcomed at his office and they have been super easy to work with. We should get together. I know Dr. Kim has support groups that you get to join after surgery. I'm looking forward to that! You and I seem to have close to the same amount to lose and our surgeries are close!
  16. Thanks, I love the name too! I'm using Dr. Kim and my surgery is November 4th. Worth the wait, I'm so happy with him and his office so far. Everyone has been great. Your surgery is right around the corner. I'm sure you are excited and nervous. I'd love to keep in touch and chat with you about your progress.
  17. Hi Apeters.....Fort Worth/Keller here too. Who is your surgeon?
  18. Hey Jen, I ended up getting my surgery cost down to $4900. Still a lot of money but I'm ready to spend that kind of money on taking a healthy step for myself. It took me a long time to get to where I could swallow spending that kind of cash but I'm there now. I had my gal bladder removed back in 2000 so that's one thing I don't have to pay for now. I'm guessing they will remove your gal bladder at the same time as the sleeve?
  19. Hey Forth Worth people. I was going to have surgery back in January but I felt uneasy about my Dr. I switched to Dr. Kim and should be having surgery in early October. I'm in the Keller area. WHERE ARE YOU GUYS FROM??????????????
  20. HI MariaL, who was your doctor???
  21. Hi Bry, I have heard mixing crystal light with the Isopure really helps as well as diluting it with Water. Hope you find what works for you. I also live in Keller! I'm in limbo right now waiting to see a new Dr. Good luck!!!!
  22. It has been recommended to me and I keep hearing this pop up that if my Dr. does a scope prior to surgery and finds a Hiatal Hernia that I may receive some assistance with insurance. Just curious if this has happened to anyone out there. I have Blue Cross and there is a specific exclusion in my plan for bariatric surgery. I had a surgeon tell me he has seen some patients save up to $4,000 after discovering a hiatal hernia. TIA
  23. I have an appointment with a 2nd surgeon on the 21st of this month. I canceled my surgery with my original surgeon because I didn't feel comfortable I was getting all the information I wanted. This Dr. was great, but at the end of the day all that matters is how I feel and I didn't feel right with him. I would recommend getting a second opinion. All doctors are different and it is up to us as the patients to not accept everything just because it's a doctor saying it. Go see another doctor and see what he says. I'm in Texas, most doctors here do free consultations. I'm assuming that's fairly standard. Did he suggest bypass instead of sleeve? Are you open to that? I know that it's sometimes more successful for someone who has a higher starting rate. You are doing the right thing by coming here for advice, keep searching for the right answer (something you're comfortable with) and you will find it.
