  1. I too was banded there on Dec. 31. Everything went very well. Everyone was super nice. I have never been in the hospital (except for labor), and this experience felt more like a quick doctors visit for me than a hospital stay. I'm just curious if there are any support groups in the area? I've heard there are, but I'm not sure where to look.
  2. I went through True Results & qualified very easily with just a 30 BMI. No, my insurance won't cover, I'm paying cash, but like you, I think it is worth it b/c I don't want to wait the few years to get to 35 & have the heath problems that go with it. My surgery is December 31st!
  3. I got accepted! It was close, but with my clothes & such, I reached a 30 BMI and from that acceptance by my surgeon was easy. Yeah! I look forward to update postings after December 31!
  4. Thanks for the info. It is so helpful to hear from those who have been through it! This site is great. I am kinda flying solo on this b/c my family, though supportive, still thinks I am a bit crazy b/c I am not 100lbs overweight. Your testimonies are great. They show that lap-band is not a magic cure, but a great tool to help you achieve healthy goals. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the reply! Do you think that even though the website (in Dallas) says that I qualify they would deny me when I atttend the seminar? I have to drive in for it and I don't want to be rejected  How strict are they on these things if I am not trying to get insurance to pay?
  6. I am just now seriously considering the lap-band surgery. I am, in fact, attending the first introductory session on Saturday. I already know that I will not be covered by insurance b/c my BMI is too low. I am about 5'9.5" and 195lbs. I know that I am not the common lap-band candidate, but the site BMI calculator still said that I qualify. I am interested in the procedure b/c I want to change my lifestyle of food. I have read many postings, and I admire how the procedure requires commitment and a change in the way you view eating, food, and nutrition. I have dieted all my life, and I am really interested in this approach. I guess my question is, do you post-surgery folks think that the lap-band is right for me? I am ready for a change!
