  1. Thanks! Hang in there and I'll check back with you soon
  2. I was banded on Wed, Dec 11. The day of surgery and the next day was filled with pain and soreness. I have to tell you that I requested the PCA to be discontinued because I couldn't stay awake much less walk. I have only taken the Tylenol with Codeine 3 times since coming home. I do have a tightness around the sternal area of my chest but I have associated it with several things, drinking too much too fast, the need to void and or lying down right after consuming broth or the delicious clear protein drinks. I actually went out today to pick up a few sales items. I was lightheaded near the final hour and I left immediately. I will see my doctor on Wed and hope to return to work on Thurs. I only felt hungry today when out near folks with food. Thank God I don't have staples, I have dermabond and my incision site look more like bad cat scratches. I think the sites will heal well as my hysterectomy and 3 c/s are barely noticable. Keep in touch and please contact your surgeon with any problems
  3. I was banded on Thursday, Dec 11 and I have had only BM. As a RN, I'm a bit worried also. On a prior surgery I had to go back into the hospital for a bowel obstruction that decided to move during a snow storm and the dr couldn't make it in for the surgery date. Thank God! I won't see my lap band dr until this wed. Are you putting anything on your dermabond sites; ie.neosporin
  4. Hello All.....! I am scheduled for lap band surgery next Thursday, Dec 11. I've got to tell you that I'm nervous and confused. Not about the surgery itself but the amount of protein I'm expected to consume. My surgeon's nutritionist tells me 3 days clear liquid after and then day 4-7 are full liquid days. I'm running around trying to purchase products prior to surgery so as to not burden my family. I did not have to go on a pre-op diet. Any suggestions.. I've never used chat rooms or bloggs before either. Thanks!

    About to be banded !!!

I saw the nutritionist and she was okay but not as diligent about specifics of the products needed immediately after surgery. Truthfully, with all the problems I had with insurance approvals and making sure I had all my appointments covered I could not concentrate during my one on one appointments with her. She also made me feel like I was appointment 10am and let get on with this so the next appointment can follow. Maybe it was just me.

    About to be banded !!!

Thank you for your comments and I too would like to keep intouch with someone who is going through day by day as we are about to begin a new life. I'm a nurse; as you could guess; and I work nights so I will keep in touch in the late hours for the rest of this week but after surgery I'm off for 8 days. If you hear anything that will help us out let me in on it. Again, thanks.

    Any December '08 Bandsters?

I was told during our "Boot Camp" one week prior to surgery that we are not allowed to fly for at least 6 weeks. I asked not about flying but because my surgery is scheduled on dec 11th and I'm flying to LA on jan 28th for a superbowl cruise to mexico and I wanted to know how to get around drinking and food on a party ship. The instructor then calculated my surgery date and suggested to check with my surgeon because my first fill date would probably conflict and flying isn't suggested until at least 4-6 weeks post op
