I have seen the surgeon. The coordinator called the insurance and they stated that they wanted documentation. And there r no guarantees. I wonder if I should call the insurance since the dr's office did. I am so pissed!

Hi I am 35 with a bmi of 38.1 I have horizon bcbs. They require a 6 month period with a nutritionist, therapist visit, bariatric seminar yadayadayada. Well I have been doing all of the requirements.. And then I was told by doc that bcbs prob won't cover me. Here's the worst part- I have 2 degenerated discs no gallbladder fatty liver planters fasciutus achey knees elevated cholesterol boarderline diabetic not to forget IBS and now stress incontinence from this heavy hanging fat roll! How sick do I need to be?? So I have a choice-gain 15 pounds and feel even worse or god knows what or stay this weight and continue jumping through their hoops to just be denied in the end! I wanna scream! I don't have money for selfpay! Any advice?

Hi all! I have this hanging fat roll that sits on my bladder and it kind of hurts not to mention has caused my bladder to leak. Has anyone experienced this? And if so did u do anything that helped?

I believe the surgery is especially beneficial with people with fatty liver like myself. Some docs require a pre op diet and that shrinks the liver somewhat to make more room during surgery.

Hi all! I have been reading posts for a couple of weeks now-i couldn't figure out how to post anything. I am in the process of doing the 6 month nutritionist thing and tonight I have to go to a weight loss seminar. These are all requirements of bcbs. Is anyone out there at the same point as me in this journey? Can anyone tell me if these 6 months fly by? Take Care!

Hi everyone, I am planning to have the surgery in the near future...i just feel like this insurance company makes people jump through hoops. Has anyone had the lap band surgery with this insurance company? I am in NJ. Thanks
