I too am due in teh middle of dec/ however i was only banded on 1/21/09 so i ma very scared any words of advice or support to get me thru this

was just wondering if any1 on here has used dr. peter kwon out of middletown ,Ny from tri state bariatics. I was banded by him on 1/21/09 and am doing incredibly well was just looking for some local band buddies that are going thru my docs strict phase program. Thanks Tiffany!!!!!!

hey, i am only 10 days post op and i still have port site soreness but until day 7 my chest ws getting tight my dr. told me it was air trying to release it self. he also made us get milk of magnesia pre op to have on hand for the constipation, which happens a) because the pain meds bind u and :redface: u havent eaten but he wanted us to take 3 days after surgery if we didnt have a b.m.. trust me it will get better just gont push urself. Oh, and try gasx strips 2 at time see if that helps ur chest i got them at the end and it seemed to help. Good luck, Tiffany

i too was just over 40 and i lost 40 pbls prior to surgery and it brought my bmi to a 39 and i was approved by ghi from what i understand they are only allowed to use the paperwork from the beginning which means your starting weight b4 u tried supervised dieting. I was banded 1/21 so good luck. Tiffany

I too went back to work yesterday (1/27) but only for a few clients ( Im a hairstylist) and did ok but i def. tire out easily. I was supposed to have a full day 2day but thanks to the snow i stayed home, however tomorrow i work 9-7 so we shall see what happens. I dont have any more suggestions on mkaking the pain go away someone told me to keep massaging the area to break up the gas that has seemed to help. Good Luck to every1!!!!Tiffany

Hey thanks for the advice I am a little afraid of gum for fear of me swallowing it ( I always did as a kid...lol) your progress looks amazing all the weight was lost after your band or some before ?? Tiffany:thumbup:

hey there thanks for the response, I have been walking as much as my sore belly lets me i took a couple walks around the neighborhood, my hubby actually thought i was doing to much so I dont know if that did it but um have major pain on the left side of my neck. I believe i start full liquid today so I am looking foward to some more substance in my liquid . Tiffany

I too think i am coming down with a cold.... but im def. interested in that cider do you know a brand name i looked in my grocery stores couldnt seem to find any sf ones, i think today i go onto full liquid yay!! Tiffany

Thanks for the response I can not wait to chew and im sure i will be chewing on all my mushies to. Im not huge on gas meds but i guess if im in enough pain i will try, others have told me about gas x strips that dissolve on your tongue to. Tiffany!!!

I did briefly think about gum for the checking factor but am afraid of swallowing it as well i dont want it to expand in my pouch...ouch!!! thanks for the response Tiffany

thanks jc I am really feeling better this morning i feel like a weight has been lifted off my chest i have only been drinking room temp. wated with rasp. flavor my port site ie still really sore but i guess in time it will stop. thanks for the info band buddy!!!!

Hi stacy I am only a few days post op but my dr. told me to get a chewable multivitamin so first I got the viactiv ones(they taste like choc, chews) he then informed me that they were no good because of the sugar(3gms.) so i switched to centrium chewables (orange flavor) Im not a huge fan of the taste but it does perk me up after about 1/2 hr to and hr. I was also told to take chewable calcium citrate so I take chewable citracal (lemon flavor) the combo of those two things seems to really make me feel better. hope this helps a little Tiffany

your surgeon is nice to let you have ovaltine and broth, I wish mine did i was banded wed. and I am only allowed clear liquids till 2moro(mon. ) and sf ice pops which i have had quite a few dont think i should tho. however they say everyones hunger pains or lack of is normal i think mine is all in my head. I too am still having gas pains especially in my shoulder and neck hoping for some relief on that . Good luck to you!!!

I was banded 1/21 and had to stay due to ins. my surgeon also will usally send you home same day however i was expriencing terrible shoulder pain that night so i got good pain meds dont think the one he gave me would have done that same job! I was banded on wed. and told to not drive till Mon. i am still REALLY sore at port site and having some issues with bending and moving normally(forgetting i just had surgery) I am also not allowed to lift for 3-6 weeks . So here i am post op and feeling full in my belly but mentally i am hungry today i ate sf ice pops to help and its still not helping i have my post op appt. 2moro w/ the dr. and i think i go one 2 proteins shakes i dont think that is gonna help either i think i wanna chew. however. after having the pops which did not make feel fuller just sick and gave me chest pain (is that normal ?) im on here looking for answers. Also today is probably the worst day in recovery my port site(i think it is anyway) is so soreeeee, actually painful i try not to take the narcs cuz when i do i get very sleepy is there anything else i can do to be a little more comfy??? guess im just feeling restless and a lil stressed not my m.o, thanks for input in advance!!!!!:confused: 7/08 303 pbls. 1/19/09 270 (down 33:thumbup:) band day 1/21/09 271(up 1:thumbdown:)

Hi JC i was banded on 1/21 as well am still experiencing some unexpected pain like when i swallow it becomes very tight and hard to breath. As of yesterday(sat.) i was allowed to incoroprate suger free ice pops but had to let them melt in my mouth first i find it does hurt a little bit but im hoping this too shall pass. i have my first check up on mon. i think to have the staples out and i pretty sure this is where i get my protein shakes back. So here I am amgonst a sea of pre and post op bandee/er's and i am trying to fully commit to the "complete lifestyle change" including things like this online forum. So Today I got my date (1/21) so long as insurance approves:thumbup:. I am a 25 yr. w female with a new husband (3/08) and a 3 yr. old lil girl. I have been overweight since i hit puberty and then once i was legal enough to hit wine i got worse! I know I am not a fat person I am just way more fabulous than that I own my own hairsalon and everyone I know tells me they dont look at me as fat cuz they only see how gorgeous I am they just say if you lose a lil you will be a knock out well 100+ pbs. is not a lil and I know they are just being nice by saying those things well now Its my time to shine. So In July when I turned 25 i decided I was going to do something for myself hence ending up at the bariatic center 6 mos. later and almost 40 pbs lighter i am getting banded!!! so please keep your fingers crossed for me that I get approved and I will for you all !!!:thumbup:

Hi congrats on ur date it seems if all goes well with insurance we will be sharing banding that day i to got my date today for the 21st but we have to submit to insurance first i am keeping my fingers crossed. If you dont mind me asking what kind of ins. do you have and why did you get denied I am just trying to prepare myself for the worse. I am only 25 so I am worrying that they will deny because i am young but in 7- 10 as the ins. lady told me i will know anyway congrats on your journey!!!!!!!!!!:thumbup:
