  1. I had Gastric Bypass surgery on Dec 3rd. The first week went by and I was ok. It was week two that has played hell on my body. I am in so much pain and regretting the surgery. My BMU was a 58 when I started..I have lost 31 pounds 19 days out. Not so bad. I was doing the band until the last minute and decided on the bypass. Im not sure yet if this was the right move for me vs the band as the pain like I said is so severe. The band has less complications and works well for many. I have a friend who lost 139 pounds in 9 months on the band and another who had the bypass and lost 90 pounds in 3 months. Whatever decision you make, do it for yourself and be informed.
  2. Going to be banded by 1st week in Dec and looking for those in vegas area who have been banded for support as well as stories from those who used Dr Atkinson's office. Im 37, ready for the start of my new days ahead. Just curious, what do I need to look forward to in the surgery? Thanks!
  3. I have HPN and the cost under my insurance is still $11k. Have you heard anything yet? What Dr are you using==Atkinson?
  4. I can so relate to all of this as it is where I am at now too. Tues I will do my EKG and labs and then wait for the results to be sent to the surgeon. I am having Dr Atkinson: Obesity No More I need to get this done by yrs ebd also. I have BC last yr and they covered it. I could have had the bypass for 4K out of pocket and the band for under 1500. Now I will pay 11K for UHC (Cigna POS). Oh well, the way I see it is that I am going to be healthier and life will be better. My friend who had hers done with BC had to go to pschy evals for 6mths and record a 6 mth diet history also. I am sure you will be successful and have it done this yr. Good luck!
  5. The Pschy eval today was a breeze. In fact, he already sent his clearance on the process. I have my blood tests Tuesday and then I will meet with the surgeon to schedule the date. I was advised I will sure have the surgery by Beg of Dec...I am so excited except for the cost of the procedure.
  6. First of all, Good Luck to everyone as we start on this journey. I started the process in Aug and have completed my dietary requirements from the dietician and my insurance. I have tried for years to lose the weight and have suffered from my thyroid issues as well. I found out that I will have to pay $11k out of pocket as my insurance only covers $5K.....uugh! Well, tomorrow, I have my pschy eval tomorrow and am nervous. Things are moving fast as I have my blood work and ekg on Tuesday, 11/11. Once these two are complete, I will have my case reviewed and then meet with the surgeon and should be scheduled by the 1st week in Dec. Has anyone had surgery with Dr Atkinson in NV with the lapband? If so, what advice can you give me as I begin my journey. I have already eliminated carbonated drinks and live to drink Water. I cant stand the taste of anything else nowadays. My mindset is right I believe to be successful. Im just nervous and feel that I can now begin to live my life at age 37 once I lose the weight. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks
