  1. I was banded 10 days ago (12/22), and I was in lots of pain for the first 4-5 days, mostly at the port site. I also had a hiatal hernia repair, so that added some tight pressure and soreness:sad: I had to take pain meds to help with that. I also had to cough because I felt like I had fluid in chest. Holding a pillow to your stomach really does help! It's great that you're getting your protein shakes down...the first few days I could only drink about 1-2, supplemented with broth & popsicles. It is soooo important to get 48-64 oz of fluid each day---I ended up getting dehydrated and almost had to to the ER to get fluids. I, like you, also had regrets the first couple days; I was thinking what did I do to myself and why couldn't I have just lost weight on my own. As the pain subsided, I felt better about this decision. So, just hang in there because it really does get better!!
  2. Hi, I recently joined this site, and so far I have found that reading the posts has been very helpful. I am scheduled to have surgery tomorrow. I am both excited and nervous! Excited for the long-term results, but nervous about the surgical aspect as I have surgical anxiety re needles & pain. It has helped to read posts on this site to get an idea of what to expect. I look forward to online support throughout my weight loss journey with the band.
