Canada- Out 'o towners, what did u pack?
since you'll be here for awhile; be sure to bring a small cooler and some baggies. You can put ice from the hotel into your baggies and put them in the lil' cooler....so when you are out and about you can have some "cold" liquids. I prefered mine cold. Others don't...depends what you like. Maybe bring a sippy cup too. Heating pad is a GREAT idea. And of course, your supplies (gasX, liquid gravol, liquid tylenol etc). If your hotel room has a fridge you can put popsicles (fat free) in the freezer.

Ideas for cottage cheese?
Yup, that is the yogurt I had on my pre-op...it was okay because it was fat free and doesn't have added fruit and is ooooh so yummy. Buffie....careful, though good ideas for after you are banded...you can't put any of that stuff they've been talking about into your cottage cheese (except spices). In other words, NOTHING that would add any type of calories. *shuddering* Thinking of ANYTHING with cottage cheese...bllllech.....cottage cheese.....eeeek! I can't even LOOK at it!! LOL. LOL @ CanadaSunshine...yogurt it is then!!
-
Ideas for cottage cheese?
That's correct Buffie...you can't add anything!!! Just spices if you want. You can't even add fruit to your yogurt. I didn't even drink fruit juices...just Water and crystal light. Here's what you do (it worked for me so it might work for you). Put your yogurt in a wee bowl (don't eat it out of the container)...sit down like you are having a regular meal with your wee spoon (I used a baby spoon...partly to train for later and to make it last longer) and eat your "meal" of yougurt. Also, don't be afraid to mix two yogurts together...I was doing that & was creating yummy flavours. You can do it. Don't think about how long you have to do it for (will drive you insane). Take it one meal at a time. Hmmmmm "what will I have for lunch today"....hmmmm I think I"ll have yogurt. Yeah, that's it.". (same thing for supper, Breakfast etc). You'll do it ok.

Ideas for cottage cheese?
Buffie, I had to do that too. Plus, I HATE cottage cheese and don't go near it so I only had yogurt (& lots of it!!). I came across Yoplait's SOURCE yogourt (fat free). And they have SCRUMPTIOUS (& I do mean scrumptious!) flavours now that are to DIE for!! So, I didn't get bored and I kept on loving them. You can get a good deal on them at costco...but they are also in regular grocery stores. They have flavours like "Lemon parfait", "Blueberry crumble", "Raspberry Apple Crumble", Stawberry Chantilly" etc. Soooooo good. AND, I lost 18 lbs during my 2 week preop diet!!!

I know, I know...not too smart right after a fill, eh?!! Je suis une idiot!!! But I'll try for next Wed if the date/time remains.

Another Fill
Yup, me too Cloe. Plus I'm finding it difficult to talk while eating (not chewing...just eating in general and conversing). Mind you, my husband sees this as a blessing! I"m trying to chew chew chew but it is hard...unfortunately I prob won't do it as well as I should until I have my first PB/Golfball or whatever. Apparently it is inevitable. That will prob be my wake up call to REALLY try harder to chew to goo.

Another Fill
That is what he'll do next time. I think he decided against it this time because I was already so full of lil' holes and was starting to swell a bit etc. Plus I was already bruised from it last week (I bruise easily) so it prob looked worse than it actually was.

Another Fill
Okay, so had my 2nd fill today. The nurse poked me 4-5 times with no luck; she couldn't "get it". It was getting quite painful. Fortunately, one of the docs was on his way in...so I waited for him for about 20-30 mins and then he gave it a go. He even had to try 2 or 3 times. He finally got it but only after I stood up (instead of lying down). It was much more unpleasant this time due to all the poking/prodding. Anyways, they put in 2 more ccs...for a total of 7 now. So hopefully THAT will do the trick. Mind you...once again I was able to swallow my whole bottle in about 10 mins and I felt nothing! Doc said if I still don't feel anything after a few days that they will check and see if all 7 is in there. He said there is a small chance that perhaps the first 5 didn't go in???!!! (I hope it did!). Anyways...alls well that ends well (knocks on wood).

Canada - how many calories?
Personally....I have no idea. I'm not currently (nor planning to) actually count calories. If I do, it is too much like a "diet" to me and I can't stand doing that. I'm just eating "healthy" & making wise choices/decisions. So far so good.
-
Who were you banded by?
Hey Carol, I answered your PM about my experience with TLBC. I hope it answered most of your questions. I also fogot to mention that the heating pad was my best friend for 2 days. And, again, as far as the gas pain...I had zip!! I did have GasX on hand though just in case but I didn't need it. No pain at all and next to nothing in terms of "escaping gas". Don't know if I'm the anomaly or not but I'll take what I can get!!! You'll do great!

- Another Fill
Yup, I'll let you know how the 2nd fill goes. Funny how each doc is different, eh? I hope 6 Jul comes soon for you Elisabethsew!- New Scale
So, I tried that trick. I put two 10 lb weights on my new scale and it came up as 21.0 lbs (so, one lb over). The other one (the non-digital came up as exactly 20 lbs. Interesting!!!! Oh well, I'll still use the digital one...it is easier on my eyes and I can see more clearly if I've lost .5 lbs etc. It will just have to become my new baseline! - Another Fill
