Hey! Im Jewels. How are you all? I live in Philadelphia, and have just swithced insurance's so that I can get the lap band done. Ive been on the forum's for about 2 weeks now. Ive read alot of posts and do everyday. A little about me: Im 5'3 - 205 lbs - I have a lower BMI of 36.3. I have an appointment with Dr.Kowalski on Tuesday of this week. (11/17/08) I think I may have sleep apnea, but the receptionist told me that even if I dont my insurance (Keystone Health Plan East) is very easy to get an approval from and that she has seen people with bmi's of 35 get approved with no co morbid's. :thumbup: Which I do not have - I dont have the traditional co morbid's. The doc I have chosen does consider knee joint pain and low back pain a co morbid and my insurance doesnt have any requirements except it being med nec. So I think I have a good shot of having it approved. Im super nervous, but super exicted! Has anyone here seen Dr Kowalski? Or is anywhere from the Philly area? Any tips or pointers? Go Phil's!! I have to say that when they won being at Cottmann and Frankford Ave's was probably one of the best times of my life!! So what insurance did u use?

Hey, Im going to the seminar this wed. I just got Keystone health plan east insurance its an hmo im paying out of pocket since my work insurance has an exclusion. Im 5'3 and about 205. no co morbidities. Im nervous I wont get approved. What do u think? Im seeing the same doc as you. What have your experiences been?

Wait - What's the pre req stuff? What are your stats? Im 205 5'3 with a bmi of 36.3. I know Im lower than some people that Ive been reading about but I feel I really need this surgery. Im nervous too about being approved. Someone gave me the name of a doctor from the barix clinix in Langhorne. She she got the insurance and then was approved for the surgery 7 days later, she didnt have to do any thing her doctor did it all! No diets, no paperwork, no nothing. So Im gonna make an appointment to see him. As soon as I get approved for this insurance.

Hey i just applied to Keystone Health Plan East - HMO. Didnt get an answer yet for coverage let alone the surgery. Did you apply yet?
