  1. I'm at the beginning of my weight loss journey but anticipate I will need some plastic surgery when I get to goal. Since money is ALWAYS an issue, I'll have to carefully choose which procedure to have first. I'm pretty sure a tummy tuck will head the list. Has anyone else has plastic surgery? What surgery did you have first and are you happy with the choice/results?
  2. Thank you! I thought I was going nuts. LOL. As for the nausea, that happens if I "take one more taste" after "full" has registered. I had a thin chicken cutlet for dinner and got through 2/3's of it. There were maybe 4 bites left but I am fighting the "clean your plate" mentality and tossed them instead.
  3. I am sooooooo sore... planted 8 flats of flowers and trimmed shrubs but it felt great to be outside. Once the outdoor funiture is cleaned (my next project) I'll actually get to spend time out there NOT working. LOL.
  4. I love tilapia, scallops, and seabass. Last night, I had spaghetti and meatballs. This consisted of one very small meat ball and @ 1/3 cup of spaghetti. When I felt full, I stopped. The tuna cups (chunk white meat in water) are @ 2.5 oz. I flake it over some lettuce and add Walden's fat free/cal free dressing... excellent protein source.
  5. People need to do what they feel comfortable with. I'm an RN so my preference is not to recover in a hotel. It was one of the main factors I considered when choosing a surgeon. In Mexico, hospitals are owned by MDs and are quite small. I wanted to make sure I was in one with ICU cababilities and with RNs. My goal was to avoid complications and, for me, that meant 3 leak tests and a post-op recovery in the hospital. Others feel differently and that's fine for them.
  6. Time released medications can't be dissolved or cut in half. I took my meds with water and swallowed them with no problem. Call your MD and see if that's OK. If not, you'll need another Rx. Do NOT risk letting your BP get too high!
  7. We need more men!
  8. First of all, I am older than WASA and it's not fair that your TOM hardly happens. LOL. My TOM of the month came to an end this AM and the restriction seems a tad less. I'm going to see if others experience this and watch for posts.
  9. LOL... love the BM comment! I am not a protein junkie and have some for lunch or dinner or both. My blood work results are all fine and I feel good. I don't have roasted veggies everyday but I enjoy them and will have just that for lunch on occasion. Fresh fruits are great... 17 cherries is >80 calories is filling, healthy, and has fiber.
  10. I am finding that sticking to 3 meals a day seems to be the way to go for me. In actuality, I can't each much for breakfast because the coffee and vitamins/medications fill me up. My three meals tend to be lunch, dinner, and a fresh fruit snack. I'm down a little over 20 pounds so it's working. LOL.
  11. Thank God you made it through that hell and lived to tell about it. Huacuz is a butcher and I have not heard anything good about him. It's surgeons (and I use the term loosely) like him who give Mexican surgeons a bad reputation. I hope you know that by sharing your story, you're saving a lot of lives. Stay away from Huacuz if you value your life. Also, don't go to a clinic! It's important to have surgery in a hospital with a certified surgeon and ICU capabilities.
  12. With the band out and the sleeve done, I am enjoying being able to eat healthy foods. Roasted veggies are fabulous. I line a pan with foil, spread out the veggies (asparagus today), and lightly spray them with Pam olive oil and then sprinkle with a little onion powder and salt and pepper. Bake for 20 min at 425 degrees and enjoy... healthy and filling.
  13. I'll start by saying that I am a registered nurse and hold a PhD in education. Given my medical and research background, you can be sure that I did a lot of searching before deciding on who I would allow to operate on me. Because I was a self-pay for the VSG revision (banding was via insurance), I looked into Mexican surgeons. The three U.S. surgeons I explored wanted $22,000 - $26,000 and that only included the surgery and one night in the hospital. I wanted a surgeon who was certified in bariatrics, one who had done over 250 revisions, one who operated out of a clean hospital with an intensive care unit in case I needed that level of care, and one who insisted that the people taking care of me post-op were registered nurses. I also looked into complication rates and talked with others who had used the surgeons I was considering. Finally, I wanted to be sure that when I left Mexico, I would be safe to carry on with my life in the U.S. That meant making sure complications were prevented. Dr. Aceves met my criteria. He did 3 different leak tests to make sure all was fine and kept me in the hospital for 3 nights. I had a chest x-ray, an EKG, a urinalysis, and blood work prior to the surgery and a complete unfill of my band after a barium esophagram. I was seen by Dr. Aceves, his assistant surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and a medical MD all prior to surgery. My experience was text book and I have no regrets. If you're considering going to Mexico for surgery I highly recommend Dr. Aceves and his team.
  14. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW... I'm glad I just went without any protein those first 5 days.
  15. Ok, sleeved ladies, I have a question. Do you find you have more restriction at that time of the month? I read people with the band experience it but I would swear I am experiencing it now. I'm 2 months post-op today so I suppose it could still be the healing process. Am I nuts or are others finding the same thing?
  16. I needed to laugh... loving it!
  17. Today, they have her in a green bikini vacationing someplace with the kids and without the hussband. She must have had a tummy tuck.
  18. I would kill for Michelle Obama's arms. LOL.
  19. Excellent! There is a lot of great info. over there that will benefit a lot of people here.
  20. ahhhhhhhhhhhh... I love success stories and I want to be one too.
  21. Slimfast has a LOT of carbs and that's what's keeping you hungry. The pre-op diet I had to do for a week was limited to 30g carbs/day. I could have all the lean meat, chicken, etc., I wanted and was not hungry at all and lost about 8-9 pounds. Remember to keep it low fat so take the skin off the turkey and chicken and select lean cuts of meat. Post-op is a whole different story. You don't FEEL hungry and you don't want to eat. The hunger hormone is cut out. You CAN do this so don't get down. Post what you eat here daily and we'll help you get that date. Read labels and lose the carbs STAT.
  22. Yes, have sex first! LMAO!
  23. The bottle is 50 calories and that saved me when I was working a 13 hour shift on clear liquids. Once I went to a soft diet, I no longer needed it.
  24. Thank you for sharing. You're doing great and I look forward to hearing more as move closer to goal.
  25. You ARE a success story! Congratulations on getting to goal!
