Riley I am so glad you are feeling better! I am very susceptible to infections also, It is a fear but not something I will cancel over. Otherwise i shouldn't have kiddos anymore lol. I was hospitalized for 7 days after my C with a wonderful infection.. But sucks to know dr baggs sees it... I'm gonna start going to the group with Christine and Tina:) Sounds like Christine had a good experience.. I just had to work, well get ready for my party:D I just realized this month is my surgery, OH GOODNESS! My wait was 2 months cause i have vegas in 2.5 weeks, this month is going to fly!!! Talk about nervousness..!!! Brain hunger, well if my tummy isn't grumbling i try water first... Atleast 16oz.. if im still hungry after that ill eat something:D But typically its gone. Oh in healthy ways the nurse said set a timer for 20 min.. OH AND dont watch the food channel lol:D Love ya girls, and I am so proud of all of us!! My presurg goal is to be down 50 lbs by the time 3/31 is here!! I know i can do it:D

before surgery diet
Well you can do it yourself, but the question is WILL you keep it off? The Lap Band is a tool, it will not be what makes u loose weight that is all you:) However, as the previous poster mentioned, maybe that is how he did it, but if you go on the kaiser thread, you will see we are not on a liquid diet, or protein shakes. They give us a 1200 cal diet that reflects : Bfast: 3 protein 1 fruit 1 dairy 1 carbohydrate 1 fat Lunch 3 protein 2 vegi 1 fruit 1 carb 1 fat Dinner 3 protein 2 vegi 1 dairy 1 carb 1 fat They say to not do a liquid diet, diet pill, or shakes. They say follow the 1200 with the eating schedule above, and exercise 4-5 times a week. It does work. I have lost 42 so far pre op since Nov 4. My friend that just had her Case Manager appt is down 32 lbs since November. Our other friend is down 25. Of course we all wonder can't i just do this myself, I must be the biggest advocate for that, to be honest.. every day i re question My decision. But it comes down to this, the more i loose pre op the less amnt i have to loose after and keep off. And it will be easier, we have all tried loosing weight, some have lost 60+ lbs to just gain double back. I personally want the band, so that I can use the tool for the rest of my life. I wont have to diet again, i will get to loose my weight and then stabilize. Good luck with whatever u decide, I recommend not canceling any appts till surgery is the next day, so that you do not regret canceling when you could have had it.

Welcome to the boards! Here is a hint:) If you are at goal (generally 10% down) at your surgeon you will get to move right on to Case Manager.. otherwise, you have to get to goal for your CM appt:) So work out a ton this week:D Swish on here had her CM appt today, and Riley had her surgery today:D We are a fun group of girls, and we tend to get together once a month, you should join us:D What brought you to decide to do wls? I wish i had made this decision when i was 19 also:D Have a good day!

Cheapest option in Mexico?
I would take your tax return and put more into it like everyone is saying. You have fills after surgery, if you go to Mexico for instance i know Kaiser will NOT work those bands. A lot of drs feel that way. Plus, sometimes the ports are put in funky and you will have to get a removal (pay cash again)... Just find a reputable dr here and there is another health credit card you can get in the states. Iam sure you dont want to give mexico all your money then have problems and have to pay the big bucks to get it removed, then pay for the hospital stay...

That is sad, because we all really deserve to loose this weight. And why in earth would they go thru the games to even get orientation! Like seriously!!! Oh well we are here!!:frown: And in Dec we will all be super small! I don't have the best support system, every day someone tells me i dont need it, like my mom and friends.. They say how well im doing on my own, i said yeah but, that always stops! And i can still eat as much as i want if i want.. Plus, my mom is overweight herself, if i could do this so well on my own, why does she also have issues??? She of all peopleshould know how this is!!

Aww thank you:) I wonder where the people in our orientations are today.....

Have you noticed?
Mr Dan, You know we are mostly women, so why would you want to start a pissing match? Seriously! Maybe also, you need to take a moment to look at yourself.. a lot of the reason people only wait 3-7 months is because 1. they adapt to the new diet the drs set forth, so in the process 2. they LOOSE a lot of weight. Most drs require a lot of testing, and psychological testing. Just maybe people aren't successful because the band wasn't for them, and RNY would have been better, the band is just that a band.. we all have failed dieting on our own.. so we all have a 50/50 of failing the band, that DOES include YOU! Your surgery is coming soon, maybe you need to focus more on the changes you are going to have to make to be successful yourself? Also another fyi, there are a TON of successful and unsuccessful people that are not on our board.. You will ALWAYS hear the complaints online considering when someone has gotten lost in their journey this is where they will come. On the other hand the long term lost all their weight people will NOT be on the boards. Don't post a thread about failing, when most of us that are getting banded here lost our 10% + before surgery:sleep:

You tell me! Christine is amazing! I talk to her on IM all day, and this woman i feel is the reason I am still kicking! She says just the right things:) I was doubting my decision and she told me to stick with it and make no changes till surgery day and then all of a sudden we went thru my fears and I am over it:) I stopped loosing and now I am again. She is wonderful. Now if her ghost self could step in me and give me her work out enthusiasm id be great!

Well i always had very heavy periods, and i was much heavier before i got preggers, my heaviest was 285 and i got pregnant, then i went down to 260, delivered and went down to 238 then went back up to 263.. SO i don't think its because of my weight or i would have always been lucky, in fact i used to have HEAVY week long periods. I didn't bleed after delivery but they say its because i hemorrhaged. Since I have got the mirena the whole no period thing yeah is nice, and also ive lost 40 now also with it and im still not spotting, every month however i do get the cramps, cranky bloated, etc, just no show.. But the main reason i want to ditch it is, i have seriously lost a lot of hair, im 24 and you can see my scalp everywhere you look from.. its humiliating. AND, i have NOOOOOO sex drive, at all. I used to not be this way even when on the pill/patch. I even sell products to enhance and they work but not great. Im just going to see if maybe something else will help. So has anyone tried the nuva ring?
