  1. Hi Sherry, wondering how you are doing since the revision and also how plans for the support group in Taunton are coming along-- I was banded in Dec 08, live south of Boston and think that there must be quite a few of us in the area who would enjoy getting together.
  2. I'm scheduled for Dec 4th---- have been reading this forum for a couple of months now and have a much better idea of what to expect, positive and negative. The "normal" experience seems to vary greatly so it's helpful to read the postings in different subforums...... I'm looking for support groups to go to in my area too. Hope things go smoothly for you--- and we can all look forward to a Happier and Healthier New Year!
  3. Hi Toots, I haven't been banded yet so no help there--but on the home page if you scroll down there is a section for post op questions.......... and further down, age specific support groups. There's lots of information here about your problem--keep looking.--and good luck.
  4. Hi Sherry,.......I'm scheduled for Dec 4thbanding and would be very happy to have as much support/information as possible post op so definitely interested for after the new year. --
  5. I'm having it done in a local hospital. I feel so fortunate to be able to have it done nearby--especially when reading of all the people who have had to travel across the country or out of the country. My insurance is covering it so I guess that makes all the difference... ..not sure I would have the resolve and commitment to do it otherwise. --although I imagine that self-paying would provide mucho motivation to follow through.
  6. Hi, LL44 et al ........ I'm scheduled for Dec 4th and have been told to begin preop liquid diet on Nov 24th--they gave me a copy at initial visit and advised that it is designed to "shrink" the liver which needs to retracted (held away from the stomach) during the surgery. I've read several books written about LB surgery and they all mention that decreasing the size of the liver preop is important-- I think checking with your MD would be a good idea.. ps--I've been a little cranky and irritable this past week --not like me...........and I'm wondering if pending surg date is a contributing cause--I'm not afraid of the surgery itself,....just the idea that it may not work for me and/or I'll be vomiting all the time. (yuck)
  7. Hi, This is my first post .........happy to know there are so many Dec bandsters out there--Thanks, Pete for starting the thread---what a wonderful way to begin the new year. I'm scheduled for Dec 4th. and have been glued to this site and others for the past 2 mos. I HAVE LEARNED A LOT! I've only told one friend and don't plan to share this with anyone else at this point--I don't want everyone constantly grilling me even if it's with well-meaning intentions. I'm wondering if there are others having the surgery who are keeping it quiet.----?
