NSV in a bad situation
Sometimes stuff happens for a reason. I have lost (for one reason or another) lots of jobs, and always landed a better one.

Band friendly barbeque ideas?
It's summer and the barbeque is busy nearly every night. From my not so distant past, the only thing I can think of to BBQ is beef, pork, hot dogs. I can eat all of that stuff, but I have been gaining weight :faint: . I have plenty of restriction. It's not the quantity. It's what I've been putting in my mouth. Now, I have to admit that I've been eating some other bad things, too, but I'm working on that. What I need help with here are some tasty band-friendly BBQ ideas Got any?

Question about Moderators
I love to eat yogurt, cheese, ice cream, wine, cheesy puffs. Why am I gaining weight? The band isn't working anymore!

Question: Straws??
Soooo .... it sounds like use a straw if you want to and have no discomfort. Opinions run rampant! :faint:

Therapist NOT supportive of LB
I may be way off base, here, but could there be an link between your taking charge of your life (i.e. banding) and your stopping therapy? Financial? If there is one person that you should feel comfortable with it would be your therapist. Maybe you don't need him anymore? Or after a year, it's time for a change? You may feel you still need therapy, but you would certainly want somone who would support you. Just my 2 cents.

R there foods that you eat & the next day you gained
I've sure found them this week. Gained two lbs. Let's see BBQ beef or pork every night. Baked potato with goodies. (What do you mean, potato is not a vegetable?????) Multiple alcoholic drinks during the cooking part. Takes so long to cook, potato chips and dip are in order. And ice cream. Don't forget the ice cream. I have good restriction. I have bad habits! :hungry: Oh, well, summer is nearly over and indoor cooking will happen again. Sigh!

Question about Moderators
I think that Fitter's original (and only as far as I can tell) post was to stir things up. Those were pretty pointed comments and questions for a brand-new poster to LBT. However, I think it has been a good thread in general. It answered some of my questions and curious-ness. Not in a bad way. Just informative.

Eraser-sized bite-sized pieces???
When I finally got to eat solid food, I did eat the tiny pieces. The food doesn't have all that much flavor when they are so tiny (IMHO). I really missed chewing food. Such pleasure. Just cause I have the band doesn't change that. So, my bites now are a bit bigger (but nothing like they used to be). I chew well and swallow a little bit at a time. I never do that when I can be distracted (like at a dinner party), only when I am home - which is usual. I'm a lot happier.

Is anyone sorry they had the lapband surgery?
It's wonderful if your friends and family pointed out to you that this surgery is available. Perhap you didn't know about it before. If so, thank them, that you will learn more about it, but now it's time to back off and let you do your thing. If you want it, you will do it, but it's not up to anyone to *talk you into it.* That should be your decision alone. You've found a good place to do some research. Do I regret it? Nope!

How long did you wait to get out and about
It will continue to improve daily. Try not to do too many things at one time. Schedule rest time for yourself. Kind of like nap time for the kids. Only for you.

Whats for Dinner?
I had a lemon/garlic chicken with roasted potatos and yams frozen. I asked DH to thaw them for dinner tonight. We're going to Red Robin:hungry:

Any foods you can never eat again???
Stephanie - no milk? Did he say why? It is such a good source of calcium and protein. It's liquid. Should go right on through. My doctor wants us to drink lots of it.

Any foods you can never eat again???
Most food seems OK, but two bites of soft bread gave me a golf ball. So far, everything else seems OK.

Surgery This Friday - Getting Scared
Good heavens! Why are you worrying about dying anymore that dying during childbirth? This has become a pretty routine surgery. You aren't out for very long, maybe 20-30 minutes max. There are risks, but they are down in the 1-2% range. Don't borrow trouble. I think if your surgery in next week, you'd better find his diet instruction pronto. You certainly don't want to take a chance on his not performing the surgery because you didn't follow his instructions. :rolleyes

Inamed wallet card???
I got one from my doctor at my first follow up visit. I keep it in in my wallet. I have ordered a medic alert bracelet that states brief info about my band and that there is more info in wallet.

What do you say when people push food on you?
Isn't that the truth! I'm looking forward to some new tops that don't have grease stains on them. No more food-colored shirts

Alcohol?
I still drink about the same amount as before, only I don't drink beer anymore. If I have a vodka and tonic, I add lots of ice to knock the bubbles out. Also, I put less vodka in (like only one shot) and more tonic, mostly so I can have more drinks. Haven't had any bad effects. Just keep in mind if you are drinking and eating, too, the alcohol could affect you food judgments. Just take care. And have fun!

5 days post port pain admitted to hospital
OK. If it is your option, and you can change your mind, that puts you in control of the situation. That's good. Maybe it will just take some time. Ports are always the last to stop hurting. Bigger incision, stitched to the muscles. In fact, after over 3 months, my port is still tender if I press on it. Maybe all will work out well.

5 days post port pain admitted to hospital
What? The assistant can override your doctor? Just put up with it? What kind of advice is that?

It NEVER fails!
How's this for a theory? You have no fill, no restriction. You make an appointment and get nervous about it. Nerves have always affected my stomach. Tension = Restriction. Get a little fill and see how it goes.

Golf Ball
Cold liquids definately don't work. Just sits on top of whatever is stuck. You might try a small amount of hot liquid, but not much. Stretching, walking, Yoga's downward facing dog, might help. Mostly, though, you just have to wait it out. Could take an hour or 24 (and I know this because ... :cry )
