  1. I am actually on here reading everyone's entries on behalf of my husband. My husband had Lap Band 09/25/2008. He lost 22 lbs. on the pre-op diet and has lost another 19 lbs. after surgery. Pre-surgery he was on two types of Insulin, 4 glucophage pills and 1 amaryl a day. With that and his not-so-great diet, his sugar levels were never really great. Post-op, while on the liquid diet, his sugar readings were in the 80s and 90s...I cannot tell you how excited we were. He stopped taking all meds. Now, after a few days on the "creamy foods" diet, his readings are back up...anywhere from 130-something to 180-something. He decided to start back on the glucophage and the amaryl this morning. I noticed his lunch time sugar reading was the same as this AM and assume it will take some time for the meds to "reactiviate" in his body. I am just curious what others have experienced...please, please, please tell me that he WILL eventually get off his meds...this is our main goal in this. We did self-pay Lap Band we wanted it so bad for him. So...who has some great words of encouragement for us?!?!?
