  1. I read through some of the past posts and it seems like people rarely even try baby food, much less have good experiences with it. Has anyone had a good baby food? I'm 3 months out, tentatively eating solids, but sometimes food is a pain and I want something fully blended. My blender has not been completely obliterating things. I'm eating grapes and tomatoes like kiwis and leaving the skin and seeds. But having some fruit or vegetable mush might be a nice change of pace. Any suggestions? The one ingredient ones are probably fine, especially if I add seasoning, but what about turkey and sweet potato? Avocado and apple? Has anyone tried the weirder ones?

  4. Update: Tldr: rapid weight loss can make you feel like you're pregnant and get morning sickness/PMS symptoms. Also anxiety and stress don't help. Long version: Things have gotten a lot better; I'm eating solids (including meats!), drinking lots of water, and not feeling like garbage for the most part! My surgeon also made it clear the instructions were goals, and for all the booklet said I would immediately perish if I didn't follow it exactly, I'm actually doing fine. But I wanted to update y'all with what was actually going on. Lots of little things helped (found and cleaned mold so no more post-nasal drip, Reglan helped me to keep drinking water past when it got stuck, I found out some of the things I thought were safe to eat had stuff I was allergic to in it, and I ate only broth for a bit to help the stomach settle). BUT those didn't solve the real issue. I end up back in the same place (not able to tolerate any food, nauseous, feeling terrible) whenever one of two things happen: 1) something extremely stressful happens. My stomach clenches up and I can't keep anything down. I thought I had to move and couldn't eat until I learned I didn't have to pack my house while recovering. So I'm guessing the anxiety over not meeting my goals twisted my stomach up. I have an anxiety disorder but it was well managed before surgery. STRESS AND ANXIETY ARE NO JOKE THIS CLOSE TO POST-OP. 2) it's time to change out my continuous BC. I haven't had periods for years because they were irregular and caused a lot of bad symptoms. So I react very poorly to hormone fluctuation. And estrogen is stored in and made by fat cells. When you quickly lose weight like we are during this surgery, your estrogen is all over the place. And it can give you PMS-like or pregnancy-like symptoms. So now that I've got my stress under control I only have these symptoms around my BC change time. Woohoo! And if the other discussions on the site are right it should go away as the weight loss slows down, or as I reach my end weight. For now I'm just grateful it's only part of the month and I can make progress the rest of the time! Thanks for all the care everyone!
  5. This was such a nice response, thank you!!! I'm doing a lot better now, thanks for reminding me to post an update!!!

  20. I don't know about the prediabetes since nausea and tiredness are the only symptoms I have, and I think they could be more easily explained with other things. Kind of same with an autoimmune disorder. It's not uncommon for autistics to be very sensitive to smells, have trouble with food, and have GI issues. And I already have 101 diseases and disorders. So mixed with the extreme stress of surgery, I'm not terribly surprised it's all tanked. But truly thanks for all the suggestions!! I'm getting a different nausea pill today and have asked to bump my check in up sooner so I can go over everything with the doctor. Asked the insurance to let me see my dietitian again. Went back to the liquid phase and am drinking hot tea. Will fish out my motion sickness bracelets!! The nausea isn't as bad as it's been, though still not fixed. Honestly just having someone to talk to has really helped me through these past couple of days. Genuinely, I can't say how grateful I am! Thank you!

  23. Honestly wonderful advice!! I agree with the food reaction; I really think it's just because I've been nauseous so often while eating or thinking about food that I'm accidentally training myself to be repulsed by it. I wasn't as nauseous today so the smells weren't as intense, and I actually managed to eat something without wanting to vomit. Can't do water overnight, the GERD is too bad ? I have to stop a little before lying down. 100% on the multivitamin causing additional. I try to take him with my last meal so I don't have guaranteed all day nausea. I have severe motion sickness and didn't think of using the bands! That's great advice!! Thank you!!!
  24. The water temperature is a really good idea! I really liked tea straight post-op, then the nausea made it too stanky. But I'll try again with a really diluted cup or a different brand. Good suggestion with Scratch labs, I hadn't heard of them before! It's not super high for salt for me, but frankly anything is better than what I'm getting. That's wild on the diabetes, I'll check that out! I tend to be really low on the blood glucose, actually, like in the 70s whenever I do blood work. But my body did react super weird to surgery, and shot my blood pressure and blood sugar through the roof in the recovery room. It went back down before they let me out of the hospital though. I'm sorry to be such a Debbie Downer, but POTS gives me that hyper sweat. So standing in air conditioning for five minutes makes me sweat ? I've been doing that sort of walk after the first big "I'm nauseous all day" walk went poorly. I go to a store or literally 5 min walk to meet a friend at the apartment's office, and I'm sweating and nauseous by the end. It's pretty ridiculous actually. But even pre-op the heat never failed to make me nauseous, so I should have thought about that before scheduling for the summer. But I have a tetherball in my living room and that's the only time I didn't sweat, so that's probably going to be my exercise for a little ? By the way, you seem super knowledgeable, and I want to get your thoughts. I kind of think I know why I'm so nauseous all the time; I looked on the forums and other people with postnasal drip/severe allergies seem to have the same symptoms. Nauseous at everything, too full, trouble keeping down food and water. I'm also wondering if it's aggravating the GERD. Fixing the issue is another matter, since I'm already on tons of allergy medicine and saline rinse and the like. But that's my current theory.

  26. That was so so comforting ??? knowing someone else had the same situation and made it through!!! I hate how long it's probably going to be until I feel better. Thank you for taking the time to respond!!
  27. This was both very informative and very kind, thank you! It's good to know that this level of aversion/nausea might also not be normal. As for telling the surgeon, I think you're right. I see this as a failure on my part to follow the instructions, which is making me ashamed to bring up more than necessary. I'm also really telling 5 different people on his team since other people respond, so maybe they don't know the whole picture. So far I've gotten "don't worry about the protein shakes just eat what you can", extra GERD medication for the GERD and trouble drinking, and to do my best. But I really do need to outline everything directly to the surgeon and have my follow up coming up. My dietitian was only assigned pre-op, but I have a request to the insurance to let me talk to her again. I genuinely can't get that much water down, especially at once. Ice water is helping me even get to this much ? The PPI was supposed to help but I don't see it helping with the water yet. Electrolyte drinks have fake sugar /: I have POTS and was drinking LMNT daily ? The probiotic is a great suggestion, I'll add it! Yeah, with the exercise it's very, very hot outside. I walked 5 min the other day, AC on both sides, cold water in hand, and was still nauseous all day. With the POTS I don't have good temperature regulation and chronic fatigue. I'm doing some light indoor exercise, but yeah that one is tanking very hard. I don't want to sweat out my water or use my little amount of protein to build muscle instead of heal. I was going to start once I could get down more protein but I haven't found a way to do that consistently. Genuinely thank you for reaching out and giving all the suggestions!
  28. I eat pickled sushi ginger sometimes and that might help a little? Even if only as a distraction ? though I don't add it to the meats.

  30. Yeah I tried that powder in some super blended canned peaches and cherries for taste, but had a lot of trouble with the taste. You can drink it in just water? I've heard people sprinkle it on things like soup and mashed potatoes but I don't know how it can taste palatable enough to not vomit up? Or maybe I just vomit really easily ? That's super nice of you to suggest though, I really appreciate someone responding at all! I'm trying to convince my body it can tolerate sucralose so I could do that Frogfuel protein shot. An oz is so much easier to get down than a whole shake.

  32. Hi everyone! Sorry for the information dump, I'm just incredibly overwhelmed right now and would love to hear any experiences you've had. I've been talking with my surgeon about all this. I just need to get some thoughts from other people who've been through it. I'm in my 20s, autistic and ADHD, and got the SADI early May. It's been 5 weeks. I've basically failed almost every instruction (except to lose weight, I've done great with that! I've lost over 30 lbs post-op). Like protein shakes. I'm very lactose intolerant, and intolerant to several fake sugars, AND allergic to yeast (which is in every soup known to man). After surgery I became intolerant to every fake sugar, even stevia. The three shakes I had managed to tolerate became intolerable post op. Two have things that burn my insides now, and one just makes me puke because it tastes gross without too much sugar for me to tolerate. So I tried a bone broth and then eventually foods (in line with the stages) to try and get protein. Lactaid didn't work unfortunately so no cheese, creamy soups, ECT. Meats are hard to tolerate. Eggs are ok, and vegan Greek yogurt, but after eating anything consistently (like every day) it makes me nauseous. I wasn't picky before surgery, and actually had a protein shake daily, so I wasn't prepared to find food I tolerate literally vomit inducing after a few meals of it. I have massive food aversion now. I get nauseous anytime I think of food, or smell food, though I manage to find something to choke down with my pills so I don't get more nauseous. I've tried to force myself to eat/drink things, but it always ends in dry heaving at best. Its mental, I'm sure, but I liked eating the same foods pre-op so that's confusing for me. Water was fine when I was in too much pain to sleep and had all that extra time, so the first week, but now I'm mentally and physically exhausted and want to sleep a lot. Or even just lay down, and with the GERD that means not drinking while laying down. With all the meals and the not drinking around them, I get 40-48 oz of water a day. I'm not exercising (another ding) so I don't actually seem to be too dehydrated? But once I hit the 40-48oz I stop being able to drink, even if I stay up 2 extra hours to get some more down much more slowly. It just makes me nauseous past the amt mentioned. I don't know what that's about. Also intolerant to the anti-nausea pills btw. For some reason they make the nausea worse and give me stomach cramps to boot, yay. There's more issues, but that's the gist. There's so much to juggle, and it seems like everything I try to fix my issues leads to nausea. How do you do all of this? And not go crazy? And please tell me it ends soon?
  33. Hi! I got a SADI 5 weeks ago and have really been fighting nausea ever since. The nausea pills make it worse for me, and I'm on the double set of PPI to keep the GERD down (which is only working moderately well). I'm not nauseous constantly, but it's inconsistent enough to confuse me. I've been struggling to know what's causing it when every issue seems to come with nausea as a symptom. I'm trying to stay hydrated but not drink too fast, eat but don't eat non-tolerated foods, take my meds but do it with food, etc. Since the nausea goes away each morning I'm guessing it's not an ulcer or something like that. I'm in talks with my surgeon ofc, but I just wanted to reach out and see how you all deal with this? I thought it would be better by now and I'm really miserable. I'd love to stop eating but I know my meds will give me more nausea on an empty stomach.
