I would suggest two videos for anyone remotely interested in WFPB lifestyle. "The Game Changers" and "Forks over Knives" are the two that piqued my interest initially. They just made sense. Michael Greger was the medical consultant for "The Game Changers." I have really liked his books, "How not to Die" and "How not to Diet." They are practical and all evidence based. My favorite cook books so far and the magazines that are put out by Forks over Knives. The recipes are really pretty good, no artificial ingredients, and nothing so exotic that I can't make most of them right from what I have in my panty. The Forks over Knives website has some great recipes, as well. My family (all carnivores) actually like most of what I throw at them! The "How not to Die Cookbook" is also good. I am having so much fun with new recipes and new ways to prepare food.

Hello! My name is Merayna and I am 20 years old. I had the gastric sleeve surgery done in Mexico at Obesity Control Center in Tijuana. I hit my highest weight a month before I had surgery done which was 238 lbs. I made it to 226 lbs for surgery and almost 4 months post-op I have gotten down to 186 lbs. I never knew how big of a difference 50 pounds could make on not only my face and my body but my confidence as well. Thankfully, I haven't experienced any bad side effects from surgery other than the expected hair loss that has recently started. (*knock on wood*) I can say that before surgery I did struggle with Type 2 Diabetes, High Triglycerides, Hypothyroidism, and PCOS. After surgery, my diabetes has gotten a lot better and my doctor is pretty confident that I won't have to take my metformin for much longer but we will see.
Something that I seem to struggle with some days is "reverse" body dysmorphia. When I look at myself in the mirror or in new pictures I still see the exact same girl I was before I started losing weight. In my eyes, my body has always looked the way it does now even when I was 50 lbs heavier. Then I compare the old photos and the new ones and it shocks me because I saw myself as way thinner than how I actually looked at the time.
This surgery has truly changed my life. I wake up with more energy, I love taking photos now and dressing up, I eat better and take care of myself better, and I honestly feel like a brand new person. I am halfway to my goal of 140 lbs and I can't wait to be the healthier version of myself that I have always wanted to become.

    Hi everyone!
I had sleeve surgery on 12/6/23. My weight on the day of surgery was 381, but just a few months prior (October ‘23), I was in the 390s — peaking at 399. ?
I still can’t believe how far I’ve come since then. ? At first, around this time last year, I was a little discouraged that I wasn’t one of those lost 100 lbs in the first 4 months stories. But now, looking back, I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made and those thoughts are long gone. My doctor even said he prefers when patients lose weight a bit slower, since it helps them adjust to their new lifestyle easier and avoid some of the negative side effects like hair loss. I’m happy to say I haven’t experienced any hair loss at all ?‍♀️ and my habits are NIGH and DAY from when I was .5lb shy of 400lbs.
I gotta say being in the 260s feels unreal. My goal weight of 199 doesn’t feel like a far-off dream anymore but now within reach. When I was 399, the idea of weighing 199 felt like a fairytale ✨ but now, being just 65 lbs away, it feels like I can see the finish line in the distance and it won’t be long until I cross it! ?‍♀️?
If you made it this far, thanks for reading. ???
Wishing the best to everyone on their own fitness journey. We got this!! ?

Hey everyone! I had my surgery on the 9th! Everything went really well, I’m still a little sore, but it gets easier every day. The biggest challenge has been the protein shakes, while they were good at first, I have begun to have a dislike for them. Tomorrow is mashed potatoes, soups, and creamy peanut butter! Looking forward to that immensely. So far I haven’t experienced any nausea or vomiting. I already feel a change in my weight I’ve lost 25 lbs between my preop and post op diet. Once I start working out the weight should fall off. Thanks to everyone who greeted me and sent their well wishes!
