Mick3yMouse01! reacted to BigSue in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go firstI somehow missed this thread when it was first started. I just found it and enjoyed reading everyone's NSVs! I have a lot of similar ones, but here are a few of mine:
I used to have to keep the steering wheel in my car raised to make room for my belly, and it blocked my view of the clock and temperature. Now I can put it low enough to see the whole dashboard. The other day, I climbed 12 flights of stairs like it was nothing. Didn't even have to stop for a break. Amazing how easy it is without carrying a whole extra person! I used to leave a lot of extra time when going to work, meetings, etc. because walking to another building or up stairs would leave me sweaty. I used to carry around a fan and small towel so I could cool off/dry off after getting sweaty. I also liked to be super early to meetings to make sure I wouldn't have to squeeze behind someone to get to a chair. Now I can just get there on time like a normal person and not worry about any of that. I was taking a walk recently (which is crazy in itself -- I never used to just go outside and take a walk!) and I had to move off the road while a car passed, and I tripped and fell in the grass. When I was 300+ pounds, a fall like that would have hurt and it would have been hard to get up. This time, I just jumped right back up like it was nothing. I no longer dread meeting people in person for the first time as I used to when I knew they would think less of me once they found out how fat I was. -
I can now hang my phone on my belt without my fat knocking it off. I can also use an inside the waistband holster.
-
I am looking forward to all of those !

I can't wait to go diving again! Its been years because of my weight (I haven't been since I was around 250 which was about 80 lower than my high). SUPER excited once Covid lifts and I can go again.

Mick3yMouse01! reacted to rjan in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go firstYes! Me too! Last summer in Missouri, I was sitting outside all the time and loving it. Normally I can't take it.
On the other hand, I'm much less cold tolerant. But I just bought a space heater and some better winter clothes.

Not tripping or falling down because I can see the floor better. My belly was blocking the view of my feet. ?

NSV's:
No more blood pressure medication
Economy class airline seats aren't that small anymore
-
I can cross my legs and I don’t have to hold them with my hands to keep them crossed!!! ??? -
Oh man I just realized the other day I don’t have to rock to the side to get my seatbelt fastened anymore. There’s just room! And I don’t have to be concerned anymore that when I pull it out to buckle that I’ll hit the extension limit and have it lock up, and have to try again. -
Being able to fasten by car seatbelt in one 'pull' - it used to take more than that!
-
The towel wrapping around already mentioned just happened to me and it was a huge AHAHAHA YESSSS moment. First time in a hotel in a while, I don’t wrap at home so it never occurred to me.
Oh… and I went swimming (hotel also) for the first time since surgery and I sank! It was great. Didn’t wear a shirt either (like the shirt ever fooled anyone else anyway). -
Mick3yMouse01! reacted to STLoser in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go firstWe bought this house 5 years ago. Our last house I had heavily landscaped, because I was much smaller and in better shape when I bought it it in 1999. I have barely done anything to this house and probably never would have. I could barely plant a few annuals without feeling like I was gonna have a heart attack Today i landscaped the whole front yard and I wasn't winded at all. I am so happy!!!

Mick3yMouse01! reacted to Ukalliq in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go firstI went to the big island of Hawai'i. I did a two tank dive out of Hilo then a few days later another two tank dive out of Kona.
Last time I went diving, I was probably slightly over 300lbs and I needed 26lb of lead. I'm about 60lb lighter now so in Hilo I tried 24lb - way too heavy. I dropped like a brick and had to keep a considerable amount of air in my BCD. In Kona I tried 22lbs and that was better but still a little too heavy. 20lb is probably my sweet spot right now but I am still losing so I expect that to change. I am tentatively planning a trip in November, so we'll see where I am then.
Getting in and out of the boat with all the gear on was noticeably easier too, but still no picnic!

Mick3yMouse01! reacted to ms.sss in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go firstIm positive it was all for you. Please tell me you wore a bikini with a white t-shirt over it and shook the water out of your hair in slow motion.

Hand washing a car without getting winded or tired!
Also there was a ton of honking and catcalls but I’m not sure if it was for me or for the car itself ?

Mick3yMouse01! reacted to STLoser in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go firstOh YEAH! These are great ones. And this makes me think of how some things happen that I don't even realize. Like, you just made me realize I don't have to roll over in bed in stages anymore!
So many things are happening, and there was so much I had grown accustomed to and now that it's gone sometimes I don't even realize it!
That in and of itself is a big NSV!

1. I went into TJ Maxx for the very first time in my life looking for skinny syrup. I ended up purchasing an XL Tommy Hilfiger t-shirt dress that I found for $19 this weekend and had to go back to exchange it for a L today. I thought I was atleast going to have to hold it for a few more months because I wear XL shorts, some L but XL men/unisex tees. I guess not any longer.
2. When having labs drawn last week I actually fit in the chair and with the little safety arm down in front of me and there was room for a small child to fit in there too. Last year pre-rny, this was not a possibility.
3. I can bend over and tie my own shoes.
4. My belly no longer touches the steering wheel..not even if i move the seat up close.

I might actually go to a friend from college's wedding in June instead of sending my usual gift and excuses.
