  1. Hi there, I have extreme pain in my hips. This happened in 2000 after I lost weight and got to the exact weight I have now (6 years later). My husband said the same thing. If I take a Celebrex, one pill usually lasts about 3 days. I walk like an old lady!!!
  2. I will be in Spring on the 20th for my neice's b-day. I probably can't make it on the other 2 Saturdays so maybe we can have a mid-summer get together. Sounds like fun!
  3. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR IDEAS, CONCERNS AND FEEDBACK!!! I feel so much better after reading your responses. I decided to wait it out for my appointment. I want to try some of the ideas I read on other posts, such as drink some hot tea (just a wee bit) before a meal. I think everything will be ok. I am still new to this. I will check back in tomorrow for any new comments. Thank you so much, I am grateful to have found this board!!! Susan
  4. Hello, I was banded in late Dec by Dr. Spiegel in Houston, Texas and lost 20 pounds before my first fill. I got my first fill late January to 1.6 cc's. The weight is coming off about 1 pound a week now. I just joined the board yesterday and am curious about some of these terms like: Nutcracher Esophagus Motility Problems Esophagus Dilated Soft food Syndrome I am able to slowly drink a pre-mixed liquid Protein drink in the morning. I am sometimes able to eat lunch (protein, salad, fruit) dinner is 80% the time is a no go. Here's why: My throat feels like it's closing and the food gets stuck. Sometimes food will go down, other times I start salivating (very thick) and cough it up. There was a period of time about 2 weeks ago that I threw up like this once a day.:cry Sometimes I get scared to eat solids. :paranoid I went 2 days this weekend without food. I didn't get hungry until Monday and I never felt weak. I am able to get plenty of Water in me so I stay hydrated. I called Dr. Spiegel's office yesterday and can't get in until April 25th. His nurse says she still experiences exactly what I described. Any ideas if this is normal?
  5. Thank you for the invite. My hubby is on days (he's a plant operator at the nuclear plant), so I'll see if my parents will watch my boys. It sounds like a really good opportunity to meet and learn about other peoples experiences. I'll work on it! Thank you again, Susan:)
  6. Hi Gurly, It's a small world. I grew up in Wharton. I left the middle of my junior year of high school and moved to Bay City (Wharton cut their cosmetology program). I left for college and returned to marry a boy I knew at BCHS. Did you grow up there? I see you use Dr. Spivak. I wish I had visited his office before deciding on Dr. Spiegel. Dr. Spiegel's office staff is very unorganized. I am hoping the next visit (April 25th) will be better. If you have time, maybe you can share some of the types of meals that work for you. You are kicking butt on your weight loss! I would love any tips or recommendations. Thanks and nice to meet you! Susan
  7. Hello everyone, I've been reading up on all the threads and thought I would go ahead and join in. I was banded Dec 21st in Houston by Dr. Speigel. I had my first fill in January and lost 20 pounds without a fill. Since my first fill , mid January, I've only lost about 7 more pounds. The fill went fine, but I've noticed that I can usually only eat lunch. Breakfast is a Protein drink. Lunch varies. dinner almost never happens and if it does, I have to keep moving to get the food to go down. I am usually more stressed during those evening hours because of the boys' activities and housework. Does stress have anything with food getting stuck? Once it gets stuck, I start salivating and end up spitting up the gunky spit stuff. GROSS. :omg: It worries my family, but I don't feel bad or hungry. Does anyone have any comments or ideas? I am due for another appointment by next week. I also need to get my appointment in with a nutritionist. I have a free 3 month membership to The Wellness Center in Houston. I'm about 2-2 1/2 hours away, so it takes lots of juggling to get it scheduled. I only know of one other person in my area with a band and she's hardly lost anything.... Love to meet some of you, Susan
