  1. Hi all One year out on my band and doing great. Unfortunate my wife and I both got laidoff in March. We are frantically searching for private health insurance. I have heard everything from they will not cover me at all... won't even accept the application! To a lifetime exclusion on the band and anything that goes with it... fills, slips, erosion. I found one company that will write a one year exclusion on the band and I started the paperwork for them. The alternative is COBRA which is three weeks of my unemployment check per month. Has anyone else had any success getting private health insurance and who did you go thru? Any help would be appreciated!
  2. HI I am in the same situation and looking hard for health insurance. Cobra is VERY expensive... escpecially when my wife and I are both on unemployment. I am trying to get private halth insurance but some places will not even take an application till I am two years post surgery and others will underwrite the policy but with a rider that no fills or issues with the band will be covered for one year. I can pay for my own fills but that could be REALLY bad if something where to go wrong and I need a revision. Any one else have similar issues and who did you go with. Any help would be appreciated.:frown:
  3. Congradulations on the "recovering" part. I hope it works out for you. I think you are better off telling him and being honest, get any issues out on the table and deal with them, especially if they could make a difference. Just my 2 cents.:w00t: I am just glad to hear from another bandit in the area. I went to the meeting but it is mostly GB patients.
  4. yep, I got the same impression that he prefers GB over LB. his mannor didn't bother me much, I had a list and he stayed to answer all my questions. Are you looking at other surgeons in the area? I know there is one in harrisburg and one down at sainai in baltimore but I would hate to have to do the drive every time I need a fill or a checkup.
  5. Hi Long time reader, first posting. I am done with all the prerequisites and have submitted to insurance for final approval. Has anyone had any experiences with Dr. Monk @ Wellspan in York, PA? He has been doing bariatric surgery for like 12 years but just started with lap bands. I am a little nervous about being his twelve bandit.
